I'm going to judge Watson in part by how many alley oops Bledsoe throws this season. Seriously. I think interior passing just wasn't part of the Hornacek game plan.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:We didnt have anyone that could reliably finish them either... I can't believe there was a former PG as a coach that thought it wasn't important to get players the ball where they could do the most damage.O_Gardino wrote:I'm going to judge Watson in part by how many alley oops Bledsoe throws this season. I'd give Ryan a B- so far. I like the game plan, but am not a fan of making Chriss apart of that plan. Hopefully he is waiting until the deadline on getting assets for Chandler/Tucker. I also would of explored the market for Knight, as his value is increasing with every bad contract handed out. But these are all things he can still do. Most importantly there were no big money deals given out. The positives, IMO, are the commitment to playing young guys (it seems), drafting Ulis and Bender, Bringing in Dudley, a good solid move. Who are we kdding though, the summer will ultimately be drafted on how the 3 picks pan out.
“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

I think this will be the most regrettable summer in NBA history. Teams are strapping themselves with contracts that will be really limiting. The hype of the new cap will settle down, and contracts will still be huge next summer, but will be more in line with the quality of the players.
This was the perfect summer to sit out of the melee. They can spend a year developing a new crop of talent, see where the needs really are, and then hit the FA market surgically--identifying exactly the players they need.

Oh sweet summer child. I'm glad you are so optimistic that teams will be smarter next year.JCSunsfan wrote:The hype of the new cap will settle down, and contracts will still be huge next summer, but will be more in line with the quality of the players.

Won't next free agency have a better supply of players? That alone should help prevent Crabbe like contracts.
Re: Evaluating McD's summer so far
I think it'll be just as bad. Yes, there will be some big fish who get big contracts and "deserve" them, unlike say Mozgov. But once the big fish are all signed, there will be a dozen teams with cap space and nobody to spend it on. And that's when the huge stupid contracts will start being signed. It happens every year.

suns had 4 number first round picks 2 years ago (stockpilin it ala danny ainge), and he refused to give up even one for pau gasol. the first of many blunders in his career. gasol today signed for 30 mil in SAS, and they say he is washed up.
