To be fair that was 15 points and 14 boards for Chriss.

Yeah, it was good to see him dive to the floor and come up with the loose ball.

2-0 now. It's going to be a lot tougher without Booker in the playoffs.

We'll see what the young guns have. Maybe Kuric takes the gunner role from Booker. I want to see Bender more aggressive Tuesday.

Been throughly impressed with Tyler Ulis Floor game. Did he not have a turnover tonight? maybe the shot clock violation at the end, but that was it i think.
“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

Tyler Ulis has distinguished himself as the best of our three rookies in summer league. Probably our second best SL player after Devin, as well.

We must be collecting those Kentucky guards for a reason, right? :D

My thoughts:

As everyone has said, Bender looked disengaged and mentally tired from the opening tip. It was good to see him buckle down and focus a bit in the fourth quarter.

As everyone has said, Ulis is a beast. His defense was phenomenal. He's just as good against these guys as he was against college competition.

Chriss can jump! He's surprisingly coordinated with the ball, and he seems to like to play defense. He just doesn't have that feel for what is going to happen next on the court. It's funny to watch him on either end. He'll make a play, let's say he's defending the pick and roll and ends up with the smaller guy. He'll get down and stay in front of his guy. When the ball is passed, he stands up straight and kind of looks around trying to see what's going on. If someone is shooting, he doesn't immediately dive for the rebound. He see's the ball hit the rim, then goes for the rebound.

Williams is my favorite underdog on the roster. I liked him last season for his hustle on court and his good nature on the bench. I absolutely love what he is showing in the summer league. He came in lighter and ready to take the nest step; it looks like he didn't vacation during the playoffs. He worked. He's not much of a leaper, so he's going to have to be patient around the basket to score, and he showed that tonight. Gobbled up rebounds and played tough defense.

I'm actually a bit disappointed that Booker played, and how he played. He wanted to be on tv, so he comes out and shoots a bunch and roughs up the undrafted Celtics. It doesn't seem like a mature series of events. Seems like something a teenager would do. OH WAIT.

And for those in software development who love a good bug, check out Booker's summer league profile. Some developer is learning that you can't expect names to be unique.

I don't hold it against Booker that he scored a bunch of points against summer league scrubs. That's probably exactly what they told him to go out and do, and exactly what he should want to do. Why play and then hold back? If he's only going to be there for a couple of games, let him have his 20-25 points and be "the man" on the court, as long as he doesn't turn into a black hole on offense.

Chriss' post game chat with the media:

"My favorite player is Rudy Gay."

Fake shock? He's been saying that since at Washington. He models his game on Rudy Gay's but I think he should play more inside, and to his credit he has so far in Summer League.

I didn't listen to his interviews Washington. I'm just shocked because... Rudy is not that remarkable a player. And sure, Chriss grew up in Sacramento. Rudy just showed up 2 years ago. Just a really odd choice.

How old was he during the Webber days?

Maybe he was asked to pick a player in an interview, and all he knew was "Rudy Gay". You know, because he just switched sports recently and perhaps didn't care the least for the NBA until he grew up the inches necessary to looking at it as destination. And as much as I can see some "Kukoc modeling" in Bender's game, I don't see any "Gay modeling" on Chriss'. Of course I do not know they guy, and he can be Gay if he wants to... ;)

I'll be through the roof is Chriss ever produces like Rudy Gay has over his career. 18/6/2 per game over a 10-year career is pretty damn good if you ask me.

Damn, I'll be disappointed if he only averages 6 rebounds a game as a PF.

Me too. I wasn't trying to make a direct comparison with specific statistics, just overall production.

So I have not seen the games, I have no idea how I could honestly. But from what I hear Chris seems pretty tough. I understand he hit the floor multiple times. I like this but it also worries me. For someone that relies so much on athleticism, or bounce as I have seen people say he has, an injury can ruin them. I love reckless abandon and I think Wade is a great example of someone that made a living hitting the floor hard. But for every Wade there is a a few Zarko Cabarkapas. I remember when Zarko was posterizing people for a few games the Fortson took him out he never played that way again ended up getting another back injury after the Suns traded him and now his is out of the league.

Scares me these athletic go to the hole recklessly young indestructible guys. But man if they pan out wow! I dont want to hear about how well Marquese Chriss is recovering from micro-fracture because 19 or 20 year olds are so resilient.

When the games are on NBATV, you can see them through the NBA website: http://www.nba.com/gameline/20160712/ (or at least I could. others said it didn't work for them)
If that doesn't work for you, you can see the games on youtube. Just search for NBA Summer League Live. Someone will be live streaming it.
