That really pisses me the fuck off. It could have been an awesome feel-good media story about Stat coming home to retire, and we have JD and Leo on the team this year. Its not like we are good or have anything to lose. Playing the rookies with some classic old Suns veterans would have been good enough for me. Yet another disrespect to former Suns from our ownership..... this is pretty much the same reason Nash went to LA. No reasonable explanation for this at ALL.

Little shocked. He had what....1 good year for NY? Rest of his run there was a trainwreck.

His best personal and team success was in Phoenix. Was drafted here and was here longer.

But Props to him on a great career.Prime Amare was something to watch. Too bad the knees made his last few year in the L a shell of his former self.

As for favroite moments....The Bank shot Game 1 vs SA in 2003....We lost the series but I'll never forget that or Stephs Game winner. As well as the Kandi and Foyle Dunks and the Duncan block.

Loved Amare! He was the best offensive big man in the game for a few years. It sucks that we didn't get a 'ship somewhere 04-10, but there was some great basketball. Don't really understand him retiring as a knick, I guess he doesn't really have a relationship with our front office anymore, which could have played a role. Don't know why we didn't bring him back for 1 last year. I'd take him over Chandler any day.

What we don't know, are the terms discussed in that allegedly homecoming. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't a "sign for the min & retire" stuff, because, it would be a feel good history almost for free, and we were already milking that cow with Barbs and Dudley. Perhaps he wanted his retirement tour, playing minutes and touches, something like the Kobe-farewell-tour we just witnessed. Money aside, something like that would be bad for our developing plans, no matter how bad we potentially are this year.

I can see managent declining this circus and then Amare doing that Knick stuff, with all those comments that sounds kind of resentful, given how big is the difference between "his legacy" on those teams.

Not defending anybody here, just playing devil's advocate, is easy to speculate both ways.

As usual Sarver gets a pass and all the blame goes to the player. IMO it is just another former employee that gives Sarver the finger. As I remember Nash sat with MDA during his ring of honor presentation and basically ignored Sarver. Sarver has turned this franchise into a total cluster fuck.

We have been on a downward spiral since he became owner. Our roster has got no better. Our front office has got no better. Our fan base has shrunk. Free agents really do not want to come here.

I am a sucker and am looking forward to next season. Unfortunately the writing is on the wall. Until we get a new owner I have little faith much is going to change. I really want to be proven wrong.

Its a lack of loyalty and respect issue, plain and simple. How many players and personel have felt disrespected now? Marion (but wait, he was just a cry baby right?), Nash, Hill, Amare, Frye, Dragic, MDA, Alvin Gentry, Dan Majerle, Coach Hornacek...

This owner and front office shits all over any legacy, history or pride this team has ever had or earned.

All of the vitriol and disappointment being spewed about Amare because he retired a Knick. Meanwhile, good ol Stevie the Great White Hope Nash gets a pass for retiring a Laker. Matrix gets rounds of applause around here (retired a Cav). Nash and Matrix in the Ring of Honor here. People really want to debate whether or not Amare deserves to be in the Ring of Honor because he followed in their footsteps.

You guys crack me the fuck up. For all of Amare's flaws and frustrations, he brought us as many championships as all of your beloved Suns combined. He was one of the most dominant and exciting offensive forces to ever wear a Suns uniform. Get the sand out of your vaginas and give him his due. STAT was one of the best Phoenix Suns players we've had. Don't get it twisted.

Nash announced his retirement from playing on March 21, 2015. Before the announcement, the Cleveland Cavaliers had said to Nash's agent that they were interested in him as a backup for Kyrie Irving if Nash asked for a buyout. Nash refused it, due to both his health concerns and wanting to retire as a Laker in gratitude for the opportunity given by the club.

Fun fact: Amare won more playoff series in NY (1) than Nash did with the Lakers (swept in the first round in his only sort of healthy season with the Lakers).

Steve Nash retired a Laker. Not for a second do we question him as a Ring of Honor inductee.

Amare played more games as a Knick with more success as a Knick than Nash did as a Laker.

Ama're belongs in the ring of honor. No question.

But Sarver and Ama're and Sarver both like to burn bridges, so there's a chance it doesn't happen. It might happen in a year or two when we want a night that brings in the fans.

Who cares what team a player retires "as"? I still loved his years here and will always remember him as a great Sun. We were also correct to let him leave in 2010 because of all the injury risks that proved to be totally founded. He had one (*1*) good year ever again after he left us, and they had to pay $100,000,000 for it. I can still remember 2003-2010 fondly and he can say he's retiring a Knick all he wants.

As for the Ring of Honor situation, give it a couple of years to re-evaluate.
Remember that Paul Westphal had two acrimonious splits with the Suns while as a player, and was fired as a coach.
Westy still made it into the Ring of Honor.
