Thats quite an assumption to make. We have been mediocre for years now, and I for one would have preferred watching players that I enjoy as opposed to the shit show we have been seeing. We still would have been bad, and gotten young players and draft picks. I never said Amare should be playing starter's minutes (or that it wouldn't be just bringing him home for his final year.) I would have rather watched Frye then the 2 PFS we just lost or the Morris twins. We didn't need to shit all over our own team during this "rebuild" that has lasted years and has done absolutely nothing but drive me away from a team I have watched with a passion since the 90s. Shrug.

He's sure as hell earned it. Much more so than DeRozan/Conley/Lillard etc.

^ I agree. I don't mind the high player salaries for the league's proven best players. I just don't get giving $20-30m a year to a guy like those three you mentioned. It becomes a small market team's only desperate way to keep a star in their city.

The thing is that you as a small franchise can't do better, most of times, so it is better overpaying than losing the player for nothing. The draft is the 'proper way', we know, but it is really hard to find gold, and the truth is fans do lose interest.
