The frontrunner for 2019 #1 pick is Marvin Bagley III. He's from AZ as well. Wildcats you'd think would have a decent chance of landing him. They wouldn't ever play together, but having Ayton and Bagley in back to back years would make Arizona very very good.

Come on ASU! You got to start to get these kids and certainly Jumpin' Joe Caldwell's grandson!

Tom Ziller of SB Nation writes about how there is likely to be a lockout during the next CBA negotiation:

Here's a Yahoo article ranking all 30 teams' rosters in a rough power ranking based on the balance/talent of their rosters, not based on the record they will actually finish with. (Huh.) You won't BELIEVE who they put #1! (#clickbait)

That was a meaningless article. I blame you Mori for posting it. I will never forgive this.

KG Retired today.

Here's Amin Elhassan talking about what happened with the KG to Suns trade. Exactly what we all thought. Marion put the kibosh on the whole thing because he wanted the max (1:04:30 mark):

Sad news about Bosh. I hope his career isn't over. Too talented and young to be done already.

It is known.

Just another what if in our history. And a pretty big one at that.

Fascinating story at the end of that about trading the Rajon Rondo pick. Amin says the conversation went just like this.

Dan DAntoni--"Rajon Rondo cannot shoot."
Mike DAntoni--"If he cannot shoot, he will not play."
Robert Sarver--"If you are not going to play him, why should we draft him? Why not just sell the pick?"

^ We had heard as such before. Sadly, Mike D wasn't able to see the value of players who didn't have a reliable jump shot. Rondo would have been great here.

Apparently the LAPD is conducting an active criminal investigation against Derrick Rose. Oops.

Pat Riley saying that Bosh looks like he is done in Miami. They are not going to risk his health condition. Whether Bosh plays again in the NBA is "up to him" Riley says.

Sorry to hear it about Bosh.
Creates interesting possibilities with the two Miami picks we have.

The Bosh scenario is interesting. He comes off the books if he doesn't play another minute of NBA basketball in February. But if the Heat waive him and he plays even 1 minute between now and February for any team then the Heat are on the hook for his deal against their cap. I honestly don't see any team passing his physical though. No one wants the image of Bosh dying on the court in their uniform to be the defining image of a possible hall of fame player.

I find this rule very strange. If I understand correctly if Bosh medically retires now, Heat don't get his salary counted in their cap at February when he won't play for a year. But if he then signs at some other team before his contract would be done (say after two years some doctor clears him) then Heat get the cap hit of his old contract again. Is this for real?

Yep. It happened to Portland when Brandon Roy made a short attempt at a return after medical retirement.

It keeps teams from issuing fake medical retirements just to get out a player's salary.

Do the teams alone give out medical retirements? If so then I understand it, but I guess it would be better if there were league doctors doing checks in these situations. At least in Bosh's case they were, weren't they?

If I am Phil Jackson, I sign him and play him for 5 minutes, then release him--just to stick it to Pat Riley.

The Blazers threatened the rest of the league with litigation if a team tried that with Darius Miles.
