Have to get a third team involved; no room for Gay and McLemore on this roster.Shabazz wrote:Would you trade Knight/Tucker for Gay/McLemore?

I know and I don't like Gay to begin with, but he's got a player option after this season and we can just let him walk. There may be room for McLemore as a backup 2. He would take Barbs' minutes, thought.INFORMER wrote:Have to get a third team involved; no room for Gay and McLemore on this roster.Shabazz wrote:Would you trade Knight/Tucker for Gay/McLemore?

How is Marcus Morris doing so well for Detroit? It shows that amazing coaching can polish a turd.
I can see why he was upset that Tucker started over him here though.
I do think TJ Warren will be better in the long run though.

And markieff, and dragic and Thomas..."it's them, not us, them not us" says mcd with his head buried two feet in the sand asking how many game time high fives we had.UglyTruth wrote:How is Marcus Morris doing so well for Detroit? It shows that amazing coaching can polish a turd.

Re: Around the League: Week 2 10/31-11/6
On paper, the Morris Bros are what teams should want due to their versatility. They're not a good fit together because their weaknesses compound each other (sorry Lon). And they're not nearly as good as they think they are. Marcus is quite average, but looks the part. 6-8, 230 and can play inside and out. He's in that Draymond Green/Millsap mold but doesn't have the length, motor or defensive intensity. He's great next to a Tobias Harris where they can switch off, as well as having Drummond behind him guarding the rim. Put him on this team now, and he thinks he a superstar. But him on the Ws and he'd be a great role player who knows his place.
Markieff has basically turned into Kenyon Martin without the defense. He wants to float on the perimeter and take jumpers, didn't become the rebounder he should've become and flips out every few games to give off that "tough guy" vibe and "I don't give a F" attitude.
That said, I have them both on my fantasy team. But F those guys.
McD overplayed his hand multiple times. He pressed on with Bledsoe and marginalized Dragic. Signed IT as insurance for Bledsoe and Dragic by giving him the impression he'd have a chance to start, which there was no shot. Then shipped them off and said they weren't willing to "buy in". The same will be said about Knight when he finally cuts bait. The irony will be that he'll have a more traditional lineup that find more success.

Re: Around the League: Week 2 10/31-11/6
He also brought in chandler on top of Len when the whole league was going smaller....You know, small, like what is the Suns DNA; but let's get that elusive centre that we've always wanted but now really don't need (that really aren't the elusive centres we've always wanted anyway..).
It's bit early on dragic but if he maintains a winning record in Miami with those numbers, then between that, Knight and Thomas, dude has got to go.

IT and the Morris bros aren't actually doing any better than they did here. They are getting more minutes in a weaker conference on teams that are a better fit. Per 36, their numbers are very similar to what they did in PHX.

Re: Around the League: Week 2 10/31-11/6
I watched part of the Bucks vs Pels last night.
Buddy Hield was awful. Looking at the box score, I guess I saw the bad half of his night, because he finished 4-10, but I saw 5 straight misses. They were all bricks and his release looked terrible, even though the Bucks were leaving him open. His handles looked terrible. He was trying to drive, but dribbling very high and just couldn't move quickly because of it. He will get minutes and touches, especially if there are any injuries during the season.
Davis and Antetokounmpo are each just so fun to watch. Unguardable, great defenders, and just get the game of basketball. I really really hope they can both get some teammates and make some noise in the playoffs. They each play a very fun brand of basketball. And I couldn't help thinking they would be amazing together.

The Morris Bros are average. They just are. IT is a stud. Should've kept him.
Re: Around the League: Week 2 10/31-11/6
Not sure I'd do this. Isn't Rudy Gay just as big of a black hole as Knight, at twice the price? How long is his contract?Shabazz wrote:Would you trade Knight/Tucker for Gay/McLemore?

Re: Around the League: Week 2 10/31-11/6
I'd do it. Gay has a PO for 14+ this offseason and intends to exercise it. We'd have a log jam with him and TJ at the 3 but would get out from Knight's deal. And at the very least, we should be able to flip Gay next season when his deal is expiring.
Re: Around the League: Week 2 10/31-11/6
I think I'd pass. Knight is at least willing to be pushed to the bench. Gay would expect to start and would raise hell if he didn't. But Gay shouldn't start. We need to give those minutes to TJ Warren, who is perhaps the best player on our team. I don't want anything getting in his way.
I just think trading for Rudy Gay would be swapping one lemon for another, swapping one set of problems for another similar but perhaps even worse set of problems. At least for all his faults you get the sense that Knight wants to play here, wants to be a part of a team, wants a chance to do well here. I'm not sure we could say the same for Gay.

Re: Around the League: Week 2 10/31-11/6
I think Gay would be happy playing anywhere besides Sacramento. And Knight would rather start in Sacramento than come off the bench in Phoenix.
It would either push TJ to the bench or force us to play Gay or TJ at the 4. We'd be small, but versatile and athletic.

" How is Marcus Morris doing so well for Detroit? "
He has some more points, but he also playing more minutes. Shooting percentages are about the same. He's also playing along side one of the scarier centers in the league ... that opens up the offense for him.

Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...
Re: Around the League: Week 2 10/31-11/6
Anyone ever think the Lakers would be closer to finishing their rebuild than the Suns?
Luke Walton looks like the real deal. Much like Hornacek over Snyder, Stotts and Stevens, we may regret keeping Earl over Walton.

Re: Around the League: Week 2 10/31-11/6
Let's not pretend that we were next in line to land Walton but that was ruined because we kept Watson...
Re: Around the League: Week 2 10/31-11/6
Yeah. There was no indication that Walton wanted to come here at all, only that Sarver wanted him. The rumor mill at the end of the season was that it was Lakers all the way for him.pickle wrote:Let's not pretend that we were next in line to land Walton but that was ruined because we kept Watson...

And not only Walton. We can't pretend that coaches are happy to go to a team that has a history of poor relationships between owners and coaches, poor drafting, and poor performance. I am not a fan of how Watson was hired, but it isn't like we had people beating down our door to coach here.carey wrote:Yeah.
