2017 NBA Draft Prospect Discussion

Re: 2017 NBA Draft Prospect Discussion
We may already have our future PG on the roster, in Ulis. I wish we'd give him the burn necessary to figure that out.
Re: 2017 NBA Draft Prospect Discussion
He's too small to be our full time, starting PG.

Re: 2017 NBA Draft Prospect Discussion
I like Ulis, but I think he can crave out his nitch in the NBA as being either s olid backup PG on a very good team or a full time-part time starter on a bad team.
For the Suns sake I hope it's the first. One things for sure, I'm getting sick of Watson not playing our youngsters

“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

ME 2 and his size blows my mind.
Wouldn't you know when we are in position to get a real franchise impact piece in the draft it would end up likely being a PG.
I am not saying that is bad or good just pretty Sunsypical <---(I just made that up see what I did there? clever huh)
Scares me though we traded Nash after we drafted him too lol. Oh then that Dragic Huston thing.

Re: 2017 NBA Draft Prospect Discussion
Could Lonzo be a 6'6 Nash? Right now he's third on my very early list behind Fultz and Josh Jackson.
Thoughts on Malik Monk? I haven't given him much thought cuz he just screamed 2 guard in a 1's body, but he's been so good this year, that he's worth a look. Still not sure a Monk/Booker backcourt would work though.
Edit: 34 points tonight on 11/16 shooting, 5/7 from 3

Lonzo is no Nash, Nash was a historically good shooter, Lonzo has a wonky J that is ok in college. We dont need Monk, we have Knight and we hate him, no more combo guards.Split T wrote:Could Lonzo be a 6'6 Nash? Right now he's third on my very early list behind Fultz and Josh Jackson.

I know we have Bender anad Chriss, but TJ Leaf looks like a solid F prospect.

As for Monk, I think I'd look elsewhere too, but he looks like a special scorer and is a better prospect than knight ever was. Could he be another Gilbert Arenas? Arenas had a strange career, but was very, very good for a few years. Philly should look real hard at Monk, an Embiid/Simmons/Monk trio could be dangerous.
Leaf does look nice, but I'd pass with Chriss and Bender here. I think Giles is the only 4/5 prospect I'd look at with a top 10 pick.

It may be wonky, but he's still shooting 43% from 3.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Lonzo is no Nash, Nash was a historically good shooter, Lonzo has a wonky J that is ok in college. I'd like to see Giles do something before I go throwing him a top 10 nod.

If you're worried about Bledsoe then you'll want to stay as far away as you can from Giles.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:I'd like to see Giles do something before I go throwing him a top 10 nod.
That's before his recent knee scope. In June 2013, Giles suffered a torn ACL, MCL and meniscus in his left knee. Two years later, the 18-year-old partially tore his right ACL shortly after the 2015-16 season tipped off.

As for Leaf or Markkanen, they both look like great stretch 4 prospects, but I can't justify drafting them with bender and Chriss on our roster and so many other great prospects available at other positions.
Re: 2017 NBA Draft Prospect Discussion
I wouldn't draft him right now. Just commenting on what I think he could be. I can envision a scenario where I'd draft Giles top 10. He'd have to prove to be healthy and that his #1 highschool ranking is still valid after all his injuries. If those things prove to be true, he's a legit cornerstone talent that you have to consider.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:I'd like to see Giles do something before I go throwing him a top 10 nod.

winslow also shot 64% FT. Lonzo ball is currently at 65% FT shooting.

Good points, ball does shoot a lot more threes than Winslow did. The FT% doesn't look good thoughSDC wrote:justise winslow shot 42% on threes in college.Split T wrote:It may be wonky, but he's still shooting 43% from 3.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Lonzo is no Nash, Nash was a historically good shooter, Lonzo has a wonky J that is ok in college. He's still the best player in college right now.
Re: 2017 NBA Draft Prospect Discussion
this video was done 3 months ago by arizona's own mike schmitz. if he's going to be shooting less than 70% at the foul line in the NBA, then he is NOT the best player in this draft class, i predict.Split T wrote:He's still the best player in college right now.

Re: 2017 NBA Draft Prospect Discussion
Blake Griffin, Dwight Howard, Shaq, Tim Duncan, LeBron James... Just a few players who shot under 70% from the FT line at some point in their careers.
Obviously you want Fultz shooting higher than 65% from the line, but doesn't change the fact that he's the best prospect in this draft. Two of his biggest competitors, Jackson and Ball are both under 70% as well.

none of them are point guards. the players comparable to him in the nba are elfrid payton and rajon rondo.Split T wrote:Blake Griffin, Dwight Howard, Shaq, Tim Duncan, LeBron James... Just a few players who shot under 70% from the FT line at some point in their careers.

By the way, Russell Westbrook shot 54% from the FT line as a freshman.
Re: 2017 NBA Draft Prospect Discussion
Lol, you can't just use one stat to compare players. Fultz plays nothing like Payton or Rondo. You can disregard Fultz because he's struggled a bit shooting free throws through his first 15 college games if you want, but I'm taking him if he's available.SDC wrote:none of them are point guards. the players comparable to him in the nba are elfrid payton and rajon rondo.Split T wrote:Blake Griffin, Dwight Howard, Shaq, Tim Duncan, LeBron James... 1) that's why he never declared during his freshman year.
2) westbrook played only 9 minutes a game, basically garbage minutes during his 1st year in college. fultz is playing 33 mpg this year.
