Well, we didn't do that. There were 3 separate trades that day.The Bobster wrote:Thomas with 41 tonight so far.
Still gotta love how we traded him and his great contract along with the Lakers pick for Knight!
No matter how you slice it the trade deadline of 2015 looks bad in hindsight though. Btw, I bolded the above because no one is mentioning the hot streak Miami is on. They've won 8 in a row with wins over Houston and GS. Miami is currently slated 6th with 30 losses and like 5 teams have 29 losses. Of course Riley will shut everyone down at the end of the season to make sure he doesn't fall out of the top 7 but every team with a shot at top 3 is going to do the same. It will be interesting to see if the heat move Dragic or Whiteside to make sure of it. I just would not entirely discount the idea that we could have 2 lottery picks this Summer just yet.February 19, 2015: As part of a 3-team trade, the Phoenix Suns traded Goran Dragic and Zoran Dragic to the Miami Heat; the Miami Heat traded Norris Cole, Justin Hamilton and Shawne Williams to the New Orleans Pelicans; the Miami Heat traded Danny Granger, a 2017 1st round draft pick and a 2021 1st round draft pick to the Phoenix Suns; and the New Orleans Pelicans traded John Salmons to the Phoenix Suns. (2017 1st-round pick is top-7 protected)
February 19, 2015: As part of a 3-team trade, the Phoenix Suns traded a future 1st round draft pick to the Philadelphia 76ers; the Phoenix Suns traded Tyler Ennis and Miles Plumlee to the Milwaukee Bucks; the Milwaukee Bucks traded Brandon Knight and Kendall Marshall to the Phoenix Suns; and the Philadelphia 76ers traded Michael Carter-Williams to the Milwaukee Bucks. (PHI 1st round pick received from PHO is LAL's and is top-5 protected in 2015 and top-3 protected in 2016 & 2017.)
February 19, 2015: As part of a 3-team trade, the Phoenix Suns traded Isaiah Thomas to the Boston Celtics; the Boston Celtics traded Tayshaun Prince to the Detroit Pistons; the Boston Celtics traded Marcus Thornton and a 2016 1st round draft pick to the Phoenix Suns; and the Detroit Pistons traded Gigi Datome and Jonas Jerebko to the Boston Celtics. (PHO 2016 1st round pick received from BOS is CLE's pick and is top-10 protected.)

Sorry, I'm with LBJ on this one. Barkley deserved that roast as everything James said about him is spot on.

Not usually at LBJ's side, but Barkley is a media bully, we all know it since even before the SSOL days. Bitter guy unable to enjoy others people's success.
Re: Around the League: Week 14 1/23-1/29
Barkley's paid to speak his opinions. Guys know that. LBJ seems to need to be the center of attention, creating these "controversies".
Re: Around the League: Week 14 1/23-1/29
It doesn't mean his opinions get to be said consequence free. I'm all for athletes defending themselves when these "analysts" start going off on them. On the other hand, I think people should be able to comment on LBJ demanding a better roster when he just won a championship and has some of the best players in the league on his team.ShelC wrote:Barkley's paid to speak his opinions. Word. He was a laughingstock. Now he's a top-3 guy on a good team. We forget that these players come out so young and raw and they need a ton of time and mentorship to develop. That applies to our guys, too, like Len, Warren, and even B.Knight.carey wrote:Porter is the poster boy for giving guys the time they need to develop. He was a massive bust after year 2.

I'm not trying to compare these guys to Nash, but I thought he kept improving every year.carey wrote:Wel Knight is 25 and in year 6. Re: Around the League: Week 14 1/23-1/29
I don't think that article is correct. I've seen it mentioned a few places that the first Miami pick is 2017, but I'm pretty sure it's actually 2018. Top 7 protected in 2018, unprotected in 2019. Not sure why so many places have been reporting the wrong year.carey wrote:Well, we didn't do that. There were 3 separate trades that day.The Bobster wrote:Thomas with 41 tonight so far.

Re: Around the League: Week 14 1/23-1/29
Interesting. Do we have an official ruling? Has to be in a McDonough interview somewhere. He loves talking about his future picks..
Take for instance this SI article which says top 7 of '17 & was published on the day of the trade: http://www.si.com/nba/2015/02/19/trade- ... ny-granger
SB Nation has it as '17:
https://www.sbnation.com/platform/amp/n ... oenix-suns
Did the pick the Heat owed the Sixers not convey until last year? I guess that would push it to '18.

I think that is the problem. Heat kept the pick they owed Philly in '15 and got Winslow. They traded it in '16 to Philly who took Luwawu. So it can't convey this year bec of the back-to-back rule.

Re: Around the League: Week 14 1/23-1/29
This is what I found. That pick must have transferred in 2016, which made the pick they owe us switch to 2018.first round pick (from Heat) (in first draft 2 years after Heat convey first round pick to Cavaliers from ealier trade, protected top 7 in 2017-18, unprotected in 2019)
Re: Around the League: Week 14 1/23-1/29
Ya, I think this is it. Pick must have been transferred to Philly somehow.carey wrote:I think that is the problem. Heat kept the pick they owed Philly in '15 and got Winslow. They traded it in '16 to Philly who took Luwawu. So it can't convey this year bec of the back-to-back rule.

sure, BUT it's all non-sequiturs. barkley is right too, which baby lebron didnt address.carey wrote:Sorry, I'm with LBJ on this one. Barkley deserved that roast as everything James said about him is spot on.

Not to LeBron. Barkley insulted his character so he insulted Barkley's. Seemed fairly logical to me.SDC wrote:sure, BUT it's all non-sequiturs. barkley is right too, which baby lebron didnt address.carey wrote:Sorry, I'm with LBJ on this one. barkley is right about lebron acting like a prima donna again (aside from forcing management to stupid deals like thompson and jr smith). i've seen this movie before last year. it's not an insult to tell the truth as barkley sees it in real time. lebron bringing up barkley's bad boy days in the past means he's got no response to barkley's main points.carey wrote:Not to LeBron. Re: Around the League: Week 14 1/23-1/29
so what is baby lebron's response""Inappropriate. Whiny. All of the above," Barkley said of James then. "The Cleveland Cavaliers, they have given him everything he wanted. They have the highest payroll in NBA history. He wanted J.R. Smith last summer, they paid him. He wanted [Iman] Shumpert last summer. They brought in Kyle Korver. He's (LeBron) the best player in the world. Does he want all of the good players? He don't want to compete? He is an amazing player. They're the defending champs."
James, clearly irked by Barkley's comments, told ESPN's Dave McMenamin on Monday night that he won't let Barkley "disrespect my legacy like that," and took some personal shots at the Hall of Famer.
"I'm not the one who threw somebody through a window. I never spit on a kid. I never had unpaid debt in Las Vegas," James told ESPN on Monday. "I never said, 'I'm not a role model.' I never showed up to All-Star Weekend on Sunday because I was in Vegas all weekend partying."

knowing barkley, he should include a trigger warning everytime he speaks
