Suns News: Week 21 3/13-3/19
Re: Suns News: Week 21 3/13-3/19
I think a Ulis-Booker-Jones Jr-Chriss-Bender team would win the title easily. Remember, Ulis was the sec player of the year last year. Guard play is usually key in college basketball and we'd be pretty well off with Ulis and booker. Match them up against what's probably been the most impressive team, Kansas. Mason is great, but he's not that big and I think Ulis would give him fits. Kansas plays pretty small and would struggle to match up with chriss at the rim. His athleticism would be unmatched. I guess Jackson could guard him, but then booker would score at will with no shot blocker to stop him. We'd be very athletic and I think you'd see a lot of lobs to jones and Chriss.

With a GOOD coach, I think they would, and even further. A big problem in the NBA level for our guys is the need to fill out their frames.In2ition wrote:Thanks Split! Could they get to the Sweet 16?Split T wrote:In2ition wrote:Quick, can someone do the math and figure out what average age would be if they substituted Bender for Len?
I got 20 years, 118 days
Re: Suns News: Week 21 3/13-3/19
Ha, I see what I did wrong. Good workCap wrote:Sure. Len was born 6/16/93. Bender 11/17/1997. Difference of 1615 days. Replacing one of five players in the starting lineup, so reduces average age by 1615/5 = 323 days. 323 days = 365 - 42 = 1 year - 42 days.
21 years + 14 days - (1 year - 42 days) = 20 years + 56 days.

Yeah, I know. I was being a bit hyperbolic because I'm so disgusted by last night.Split T wrote:I think a Ulis-Booker-Jones Jr-Chriss-Bender team would win the title easily. Actually, I don't know if they'd win the title "easily" in a single-elimination tournament. It only takes one game to lose. After being spotted a 20-5 early lead we were outscored 121-78 by the Nets. A team capable of that is capable of laying an egg for 40 minutes against anybody.

Great news.
Re: Suns News: Week 21 3/13-3/19
We have to get this news by way of Croatia?

I really don't get the disgust from last night's loss. At all.Cap wrote:Yeah, I know. I was being a bit hyperbolic because I'm so disgusted by last night.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Yes. They broke the surgery news a full day before the Suns announced it too. Suns are ridiculous w/ news updates under McDonough.Cap wrote:We have to get this news by way of Croatia?

Re: Suns News: Week 21 3/13-3/19
Remaining Schedules -
Suns (22-51) - (5 home, 4 road) @Charlotte, @Atlanta, LA Clippers, @Portland, Houston, Golden State, Oklahoma City, Dallas, @Sacramento
Lakers (21-51) - (6 home, 4 road) Portland, Washington, @Minnesota, @LA Clippers, Memphis, @San Antonio, Sacramento, Minnesota, New Orleans, @Golden State
I can see the Suns beating Dallas and perhaps Sacramento (going 2-7 at best, unless some playoff team decides to rest a bunch of starters). The Lakers have three winnable home games (SAC/MIN/NOP), a winnable road came (Minnesota) and one road game on their home court against the Clippers. So I could see them going 2-8 or 3-7 if somebody is resting players or if they upset Portland.
This looks like it will be the first time the Suns have had back-to-back seasons where they won less than 30% of their games (they would have to go 3-6 to avoid it). It will be the third straight time for the Lakers though (the only three times they haven't won 30% of their games since moving from Minneapolis in 1960). The Lakers are now 86-232 (.270) over the last four seasons.
And yet, Brooklyn is even worse the last two years (36-118, .234). And they have no reason to tank since Boston has their draft pick.

I'm really surprised Brooklyn, as desperate as it is, didn't give Terrence Jones a look. Is there some sort of personality issue we are not aware of?
Re: Suns News: Week 21 3/13-3/19
Only if you don't know he stomped on a homeless guy. But since then I haven't heard of any problems in the locker room.pickle wrote:I'm really surprised Brooklyn, as desperate as it is, didn't give Terrence Jones a look. Is there some sort of personality issue we are not aware of?

Love, Hurts.
Re: Suns News: Week 21 3/13-3/19
I don't... it sounds vaguely familiar but until you mentioned it I really didn't know. Oh and there's also Motiejunas, but him at least the Nets tried to sign. So what is wrong with Terrence Jones...
Re: Suns News: Week 21 3/13-3/19
Jones's version of the story is he wasn't looking where he was going and accidentally tripped over someone sleeping on the sidewalk. Might've said a rude word or two. The civil case was settled for a $10K charity donation and the criminal charge was dropped.

Re: Suns News: Week 21 3/13-3/19
Thanks for that. Then back to my question. Why isn't a team as desperate as the Nets taking a chance with him? By all accounts he's still young and full of potential. He scored 30+ with good efficiency earlier this year for the Pelicans. Did he ask for too much money? Does he have an unmanageable ego?
Re: Suns News: Week 21 3/13-3/19
He was just a casualty of the DeMarcus Cousins trade and the fact that they already had too much money tied up in other big men that no one wanted. He signed with the Bucks for the rest of the year a week later but he's not played for them at all. I remember really liking his rebounding ability when he went to the D-league as a Rocket. As of now he's grabbing 6 per game and scoring 11 points in 23 minutes this year. Though that was all next to AD. Someone will pick him up next year.pickle wrote:Thanks for that. Ok... As I recall he was on the market for several days before the Bucks swooped him up. I'm curious, in the case of the Nets who are desperate for talent and have absolutely nothing to lose, why didn't they jump in?
