If he's got a legit substance abuse problem or a history of violence towards women, then he'll drop down in the draft accordingly.
Jackson is 20 but who's counting? ;) He seems really well suited for us basketballwise. I just wish he didn't have this dark cloud over his head. If we do take him, I just hope it is a maturity issue and who knows maybe our positive environment will help shape him.

What's the story on what Jackson did? I've only seen snippets, but it sounds like he got suspended because he backed into a car and left the scene. Then he had the incident where he kicked a girls car causing some damage after she threw a drink in his teammates face? Definitely dumb and immature things, hopefully that's just it. The kicking the girls car one is a little more worrisome. What would he have done if she was outside the car? Doesn't make him undraftable, but I'd definitely want to look into his behavior before i'd feel comfortable drafting him.

Bright Side of the Sun documents the kicking the girl's car door incident and the resultant anger management classes and alcohol and drug tests:

I just think we need to do our due diligence and really check him out if we're going to pick him.

We tried the 3 PG thing, so we are going to try the 3 tweener forward thing.

From what I have read around the league, and listened to in breakdowns, it seems Jackson and Tatum are no nearly the rebounders or defenders that Isaac is (taking into account actual rebounding percentages). I think we really need that with Chriss, Bender and Williams as our primary players in the front court the next few years. He is also much longer than the others and seems to fit better into a team game. I think either of the others would be better scoring options, but not better team options. I don't see any of them being a #2 scorer on a great team, so you draft for someone that fills holes for you. Our biggest holes are front court rebounding and defense (especially guys that can switch). I know Bender is supposed to be that guy for us, but you never know. I think his ceiling is a shawn marion (if I am keeping it to former suns players). In this draft, at 4, I would be happy if we could find someone like that.

Let's also avoid any more mediocre players with anger management issues from Kansas.

At least Jackson isn't a mediocre player.

He shoots 28% from 3 and 54% from the line. You are right; that is well below mediocre. ;)

Remember when we had Gerald Green, Marcus Morris, and PJ Tucker, and we still drafted TJ Warren? McD hasn't been shy about stacking up players at any position.

Haha, some people are more mediocre than others.

Sorry, that was the numbers through mid-january. I got it from a review written around then about him. He picked it up quite a bit the last 15 games (including the tournament).

The 57% FT shooting is alarming though. That's not a good sign. And that's the college free throw line. ;)

What do you guys think about this? Do you think that NY would trade their #8 pick to Phx to take on Melo's contract? Then Phx would have 4 and 8 again, like last year.

That's a great move if Sarver is willing to spend the money to... Oh, wait, nevermind.

I would do it in a heartbeat if NY would do it. Dolan may still think Melo is a good player.

So players' character doesn't mean anything to you guys?
Sure, but the quote was a typical Watsonism. Forgetting about the redundancy, it's also a classic example of what I once termed "anodyne nonsense." It's a statement that you can't naturally disagree with, but doesn't really say anything.
