Suns 2014: NBA Draft
Re: Suns 2014: NBA Draft
Random observation: Looking back we haven't done too bad when we have tried to acquire or move up a pick. Mind you it was always late 1st or 2nd rounder (Barbosa, Dragic, Goodwin). Anyone I'm missing?
Re: Suns 2014: NBA Draft
Sorry to hear that Carey. Saturday morning I have to get a 325am flight to the other side of the world economy class for my new job. I felt like telling my new company that I'm pretty sure not even God is awake at that time. I guess it gives me a lot of time to read though the fall out of the draft.carey wrote:I'll have it up in the morning. Both my kids are sick. One with bronchitis. Oh "sources say", 'eh? Calvisi's within spitting distance of the arena, yet he's depending on blips from "NBA sources". I'll believe it when I see it.Superbone wrote:Paul Calvisi @PaulCalvisi
#NBA sources say #Suns are "looking to move Eric Bledsoe" & are exploring trade options for sign & trade. Other sources say "not surprised."

What time was the tweet from? 5'll get you 10 it's midnight speculation.
Hell of a time for INF to decide to bail for a quick break.....

I feel for you. My kids have been sick for the past few weeks. Nothing as bad as bronchitis but it's hard to take. Hope it all sorts itself out quickly for youcarey wrote:I'll have it up in the morning. Both my kids are sick. One with bronchitis. Re: Suns 2014: NBA Draft
I don't remeber the terms of the game, Carey, but how about adding this:
#1.- Wiggins/Parker/other for top pick.
#2.- Embiid: top3?
#3.- Exum: top3?
#4.- Randle-Gordon-Smart: order.
#5.- Payton: top10?
#6.- Saric: out of lotto?
#7.- Stauskas-LaVine-Harris: gone by #14?
#8.- McDermott: Top12?
#9.- Nurkic: lotto?
#10.- Warren-Anderson-Payne: 15-20 range?
#11.- Young-Hood: out of top20?
#12.- Name two teams who draft and stash.
#13.- McGary-Stokes: first round?
#14.- GR3-Hairston-McDaniel-Grant-Wilcox: who falls to 2ndR?
You get one point for each correct answer. 1 bonus point for each degree of specification, for instance 'yes, Sacramento'=2points, 'no, Young is top20, Atlanta'=3 points, etc. Feel free to suggest more questions or tweaks to those 14.

Marc Spears has a draft day mock on yahoo which has us taking Stauskas, TJ Warren and Capela. (I'd be stoked to get Capela with our 3rd pick.) Interestingly Spears says we have given Warren a promise at 18.

I am very pleased to hear that about Warren. Stauskas would be amazing too, and if they managed to turn Capela into Nurkic I think I'd die.

Re: Suns 2014: NBA Draft
If true, count me in as very stoked about the T.J. Warren promise - if McDermott happens to fall to us at #14, there'd likely be one hell of a logjam at 3, but I give an edge to Warren in my personal preference.Ring_Wanted wrote:I am very pleased to hear that about Warren. I'm hoping #14 is used in a package to move up to get one of Vonleh or Gordon, though.....

Andy Katz tweets that the Suns and Kings were in discussions for the #8 but it was shot down because Sacramento wanted Dragic.

Re: Suns 2014: NBA Draft
Good night boys and girls. Tomorrow is the day you have been waiting for all year. That’s right it’s the NBA draft. If you’ve been good your GM will draft you a franchise changing young talent. If you’ve been bad, your GM will sell your draft picks for cash or trade them for an injury plagued veteran in decline with an albatross of a contract to burden your team for years to come. If you don’t like what you end up with, just think some underprivileged fans don’t even get their own 1st round pick this year (Dallas)

I like Warren. I think he is the guy at 14 if our main targets are gone.

I'd be inclined to trade Bledsoe tonight if I thought we could land Marcus Smart.

Take care of the stuff that matters, don't worry about the draft game.carey wrote:I'll have it up in the morning. Both my kids are sick. One with bronchitis. One with 103 fever right now (which is why I'm up at 3 a.m.)TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Wasnt there supposed to be a draft game here?

Off topic, but I'm honestly so tired of Bill Simmons.
Re: Suns 2014: NBA Draft
I like him a lot, but not on these studio shows/segments. His "I'm a Celtics homer with a national presence" shtick is good in podcasts and columns, but I just don't think he works well on TV. Especially on these long-form shows like the draft where he just talks and talks. He runs out of material and becomes repetitive and annoying.ShelC wrote:Off topic, but I'm honestly so tired of Bill Simmons.
