But he's tall and European, so he's obviously a stiff.Cap wrote:DX has him as the top white guy in the draft.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:But he went to Arizona, so he must be good.Superbone wrote:Yeah, I've only seen him a couple times but I was not impressed.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:Markkanen is bantha fodder poodoo. Re: Your Top Five for #4
It's less about getting Markkanen exactly, although I clearly like the guy, and more about getting a 2fer in a deep lottery that includes a Bledsoe replacement.
But watching more Tatum video I think we'd be crazy passing him up at 4 if jackson is gone - there's easily a case to be made for him being at least Jackson's equal.
Either way, someone is going to get a very good player in the late lottery and beyond.

I'd change my top 5 as well - swap out Isaac for markkanen.

And its not really close for me.

Re: Your Top Five for #4
Right now, my top 5 are: Jackson, Tatum, Fox, Isaac, Monk
I'm higher on Markkanen than Collins, although I wouldn't build a team around him. I think Collins is going to be a bit of a journeyman.

So, you like Monk almost twice as much as Isaac but less than Jackson and Tatum?In2ition wrote:Right now, my top 5 are: Jackson, Tatum, Monk, Isaac, Monk

I'd rather have TJ Leaf than Markkanen.
(Obligatory must only compare tall white guys to each other.)

Re: Your Top Five for #4
Markkanen is too slow and can't play D. I could see him as a backup on a team that just jacks 3s like the Rockets maybe, but I think generally he'll be an NBA bust.
Re: Your Top Five for #4
His foot speed may not be great but if you watch him when he shoots three's he's more than agile enough to manoeuvre and jump away from his defender and hit them falling away or sideways....So he's not just a spot up shooter iow and at 7ft tall he'll find a role, just as long as he brings his shooting % with him.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:Markkanen is too slow and can't play D. Re: Your Top Five for #4
I'm on record saying I want Tatum over Jackson.
Other than his tendency to not pass to the open man, the worst parts of which can be coached out of him, he's a baller and he's long...or more accurately, he's NBA length whereas Jackson is a total short a$$.
Tatum's standing reach is 8'10" (same as Kawhi Leonard) Jackson's is 8'3", literally the same as some guys who are 6'2", suggesting he'll struggle against the long SF's in the league.
Plus there's potential character issues we've proven we can't handle (less concerned about this).
Tatum, Jackson, Fox, Smith, Markkanen (no point on Monk as we've got Booker, and who wants a 6'4" shooting guard anyway, and I'm calling Isaac the big bust of the top 10)

I don't think that standing reach number is accurate for Jackson. He's been measured 5 times and his other 4 are 8'6, 8'8, 8'9, 8'10 His height and wingspan are only slightly lower than Tatum, my guess is he's in the 8'8 to 8'10 region. Or basically the same as Tatum.3rdside wrote:I'm on record saying I want Tatum over Jackson.

Yeah and yeah - I was imagining a cartoonish broad shouldered beast of a human being to have a span that wide but standing reach that short.Split T wrote:I don't think that standing reach number is accurate for Jackson. Re: Your Top Five for #4
Jackson, Tatum, Isaac. I am not listing any more, because one of those will be there.
Re: Your Top Five for #4
Its got to be physically impossible to have his height and wingspan and have a standing reach that low. Even if his shoulders were really broad, he could tilt them and get beyond 8'3". He would have to be nearly crippled. I know some players have fudged their standing reach so their vert looks much better, but even that would be silly.3rdside wrote:Yeah and yeah - I was imagining a cartoonish broad shouldered beast of a human being to have a span that wide but standing reach that short.Split T wrote:I don't think that standing reach number is accurate for Jackson. Jackson is my #1 choice at 3. Don't over think this.
