Suns News: The Offseason
Re: Suns News: The Offseason
If we're not too worried about being good next year would anyone say fuck it and just start Bender at C all year?
Without knowing who will still be here next season I would seriously consider just running Bledsoe-Booker-Warren-Chriss-Bender as a starting unit all getting 30 minutes a game. I wouldn't re-sign Len and I'd keep Sauce as the 3rd or 4th big man depending on when we rest Tyson.

I'd want to see where Bender is physically but I do think he can project as a 5 somewhat down the road. Some bigs play big, some bigs play big but have perimeter skills, some bigs play small. Porzingis is a guy who plays big but has perimeter skills. Durant is a big who plays small. I think Bender is a big who plays small. Not sure he's fit for bodying up inside. I think I'd want to see Chriss there first.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason
Like Shel i am not sure he is ready for that, but neither was Chriss last year. I would be for that approach and see what happens.carey wrote:If we're not too worried about being good next year would anyone say fuck it and just start Bender at C all year?

Re: Suns News: The Offseason
Then Bender at the 4 and Chriss at the 5? Would it matter? They'd probably do a lot of switching and so far Bender plays much more on the perimeter on offense.ShelC wrote:I'd want to see where Bender is physically but I do think he can project as a 5 somewhat down the road. Re: Suns News: The Offseason
I would absolutely just throw Bender out there next year. Get him 20+ minutes each game. But maybe I wouldn't start that lineup since I think it's important to keep a couple of vets on the court with each lineup.carey wrote:If we're not too worried about being good next year would anyone say f*** it and just start Bender at C all year?

I'd also want to see where he is on the whole "the ball goes through the hoop when you shoot it" thing.ShelC wrote:I'd want to see where Bender is physically but I do think he can project as a 5 somewhat down the road.

Re: Suns News: The Offseason
Hold on now. We need to make sure he doesn't arrive at the same time as another player. We will have to see how the draft works out before it is decided whether or not Bender gets to arrive this season.

I'm not against keeping Len, he makes a lot of good points and I agree that Len hasn't reached his ceiling. Didn't the Bulls give up on Chandler after 5 seasons and gave him up for peanuts?

Mmmmh...The Suns should absolutely re-sign Len no matter what the cost, even if someone is crazy enough to give him a max offer.

Re: Suns News: The Offseason
I have said before that I want to keep Len. But not for the freaking max; that is just looney tunes. The right price has always been somewhere around the $10-13 mil range.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason
I think 10 mil is the most I'd spend on Len. I wouldn't have a problem if we passed at any price though.
