I can't tell if 3 years of him would be worth the #4 (that we could lock up for a very long time), considering we won't be competing in the next couple of years.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Am I the only one that could talk themselves into being ok with Love for 4?

Re: Suns News: The Offseason
There is no guarantee with #4 we'll be competing anytime in the future anyway. I tried to put myself in the heads of the players, who would they rather have? A rookie or Love? Players wanna win, and I think they'd be hyped if we landed Love for just a draft pick.
Love, Hurts.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason
Agreed. But do you use the 4 on a vet that doesn't align with your horizon so soon before you reach your expected peak?TheOriginalOriginal wrote:There is no guarantee with #4 we'll be competing anytime in the future anyway. Re: Suns News: The Offseason
He's 28 and doesnt rely on athleticism. I think his game will age well, and no, he may not be at his peak when we are, but I think he'd still be useful, especially as a stretch 5 with Chriss/Bedner still here. I'm not saying I'd run out and do this trade, but I think I could get on board easier than most.
Love, Hurts.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason
I'd rather just bypass Cleveland all together and get butler for ourselves.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason
Jimmy Butler is a nice player and all, but why would you want to presumably spend significant assets to acquire a player who plays Booker's position? Would you want to run them together as the 1-2? Or as the 2-3? I thought Butler was more of an SG and not an SF.Split T wrote:I'd rather just bypass Cleveland all together and get butler for ourselves.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason
Butler can be a 3, short arms aside, he can defend with the best of them.
Love, Hurts.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason
Never. With love playing in front of Chriss/Bender, that would essentially mean we threw away two years to grab a medium range star who really doesn't move the needle for us. Where are we with a Bledsoe/Booker/Love core? 7-8 seed? Just sitting around waiting to get bounced in 4 games by Golden State/San Antonio?TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Am I the only one that could talk themselves into being ok with Love for 4?
I'm out on that.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason
I dont think Love would play in front of Bender/Chriss, I think its more likely they play together. Chandler would be the odd man out IMO.n4th4n wrote:Never. As I've said, I'm not advocating the trade, I want Tatum, but I'd get it.

Re: Suns News: The Offseason
Butler is a 3, he's essentially the best possible outcome for josh Jackson, same size, same strengths and weaknesses. I'd rather just draft Jackson as he fits our timeline better, but if its love or butler, I'd prefer butler and it's not that close.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:Jimmy Butler is a nice player and all, but why would you want to presumably spend significant assets to acquire a player who plays Booker's position? Re: Suns News: The Offseason
Maybe the 2 of y'all. Moving for a 28 year old Kevin Love means keeping Bledsoe. It also means having to move one of our Chriss / Bender duo for some sort of win now player. You'd give yourself a 3 or 4 year window in a time when the Warriors are straight dominating then we'd be right back here. What's the dang point?

Don't you want to build something that is sustainable? Do you want to be right back in this slog in a few years?Superbone wrote:Watching fun basketball throughout the year?carey wrote:Maybe the 2 of y'all. Re: Suns News: The Offseason
Of course. I was just answering the question as to why we might do it. It's been a rough few years as a fan. We had the one really fun year when McD first came on board when we added Plumlee and Green and they were a surprise and Dragic had his MIP year and then a lot of crap years after that. At least we can see some light at the end of the tunnel.carey wrote:Don't you want to build something that is sustainable? I really like this blog. Ben Falk is a very sharp dude. It's worth going back and reading some of his other entries:

Re: Suns News: The Offseason
I wouldn't be surprised if starting this next season, the starting pg is Brandon Knight. I don't necessarily think that's a good thing, but could help Brandon build his value back up in the league. It seems like the Suns are half way ready to pull the trigger on a big deal, but without including almost all the young core talent.
