Awesome. I'm with those who hope he will get a lot of touches.carey wrote:https://twitter.com/DougHaller/status/879808452280762368 Looks like Bender will be there along with Chriss, DJJ, JJ and Reed. That's going to be fun.
My coaching for Bender and Jackson this summer league:
When you get a rebound, look to bring the ball up the floor and create a play yourself. Only make an outlet pass if you have defenders pressuring you.
I think Jackson can do it. I'm not sure if Bender has the confidence.

I think he's a good pickup for a team that doesn't already have a bunch of young guards.carey wrote:https://twitter.com/IAmDPick/status/879853429698547712 Mike James to our Summer League team?

Interesting. The Love-esque outlet passes from Bender are one of my favorite parts of his game. I like that even as a 7-footer he always has his head up and will get that ball ahead as fast as he can.O_Gardino wrote:My coaching for Bender and Jackson this summer league:

Agreed, and I wouldn't give him that coaching in the regular season. But in the summer league, I would want him to play with a more attacking mentality. Sure, if he has a golden chance for an outlet to someone on the fast break, take it. But if he is just going to hand the ball over to a guard to walk it up, I would rather he bring it up and create the play.carey wrote:Interesting. They signed Mike James to a two-way contract. Our first, I think.

Yes, I'd like to see him be aggressive with the ball in the half court too. Back down those smaller defenders and shoot over or around them. During the regular season, he rarely made a move with the ball. He just took open shots or passed the ball.O_Gardino wrote:Agreed, and I wouldn't give him that coaching in the regular season. So, as of now all of our roster spots are full, assuming we cut Milsap. Should be interesting to see what happens next with Knight / Len / Williams / Barbosa.JCSunsfan wrote:They signed Mike James to a two-way contract. Our first, I think.

Actually I remember a number of times when he had a smaller defender and went to the block and called for the ball. He would only do it when he had a clear mismatch, though.Superbone wrote:Yes, I'd like to see him be aggressive with the ball in the half court too. Re: Suns Summer League
I just listened to the beginning of Watson's interview on AZSports this morning. Chriss texted Watson this morning: "Let's win Summer League."
Coach Watson said for Chriss it isn't about him scoring a bunch of points in SL but he'd like to see him pull down 10-15 rebounds a game.
