I'm a big Barbosa fan, but I think we could all see it coming.

Enjoy your lovely parting gift ($500,000)!

Making room to bring on a contract? I like Barbs, and think we need old dudes on the bench. But if he can go somewhere and actually play, good for him.

Maybe. The Suns let everyone know that they are willing to take on bad contracts with young assets and/or draft picks attached. We'll see how they play this. Hopefully, something good comes along that fits #TheTimeline. BTW, I just bought a t-shirt with this tagline that I thought was clever. https://www.teepublic.com/user/CraigAhamil

That is VERY cool. You might have just sold another. It's great how you can make out all the players from their outlines. The only one I had to figure out from the process of elimination was Bender.

I believe his contract was fully-guaranteed tomorrow, so he's basically the victim of salary cap numbers. I don't think it means any other moves are imminent.

We're now $10M under the cap. Can get down to $25M under by releasing various holds.

Thanks for the info. So we are probably looking at being over the cap after signing rookies and one of Len / Williams.

I really don't mind letting Barbosa go if he has another gig lined up, or if we plan on using our cap space to bring in bad contracts and acquire assets. I just worry that our FO will think "going all in on the young guys" means everyone on the roster has to be young. That's not what it means. It means investing in the young guys we have with playing time and mentoring. I think players need mentoring from older teammates as well as coaches, and Barbs is a perfect guy for that.

I think Bledsoe who is going into his 8th year is plenty old enough. Dudley and Chandler too. A good vet at G, F & C.

3 vets and 13 or 14 young guys? That's not the right investment in youth, IMO, especially when one of those vets is a starter. Give me 3 more who know they are not going to play, and I'll be happy. Dudes who know their playing days are behind them and are thinking about coaching as the next job. I want minutes and mentoring for the young guys.

Vets: Bledsoe, Chandler, Dudley, James
Four seasons: Len
Three seasons: Warren, Millsap
Two seasons: Booker, Williams
One season: Bender, Chriss, Ulis
Rookies: Jackson (Freshman), Reed (Senior), Peters (Senior)

They are young, but not totally babies. Reed and Peters are much more mature than most of our other youngsters. We are fine.

I feel the opposite. Take as many stabs as you can at young talent with the roster spots available.

I agree. Those 3 vets are just the right amount. We don't need more.
