DSJ just drained a 3 in JJ's face hard.

We don't even look impressive against the far end of the Mavs Summer League team. :)

This whole game was street ball so the overly athletic guys like DSJ and James looked good. Jackson looked alright but had a bunch of miscues including a missed dunk and just falling over his own feet on some drives / getting stripped a lot. I don't know what to say about Bender and Chriss. They both looked like trash. They may have been partaking in the Vegas life a little too much yesterday.

Not too worried about Bender's shot. I think the added weight will be an adjustment. Everything today was long.

Chriss has got to stop complaining. He's not on the Morris level for me but it looks like he's pouting all the damn time. I can't do a full season of that.
Go Suns!

I guess if you just give the starting job to a rookie without making him earn it and then encourage him to be chippy, not tough, this is what happens. He acts like he has already earned something instead of a player trying to show that he belongs.

Smith Jr. looked really good. If anyone followed him through the NCAA's though, he can look like this. It's that he is inconsistant and toward the later part of the year looked like he took play off. When he's on, he's absolutely on and he is a great ISO player, but curious to see how consistant he'll be this yr. I credit Dallas though for not bringing on a stopgap to impeed his progress like sacto did with George Hill.

Suns were pretty terrible all game. Jackson had a pretty good 2nd half, but he shot the ball pretty badly I felt. I feel like I'm beating a dead horse, he's just a guy who is going to look better playing with better players I feel. Chriss was awful, Bender seemed like he didn't play as much and was less aggressive than game 1, Reed is a gamer. Not as good as game 1, but he was solid. Mike James was really good in the first half, but quiet in the 2nd. All in all a pretty poor effort by us. For the love of god, when Chriss gets doubled can he see it ATLEAST once? everytime it results in him trying to break it and a turnover.
“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

Chriss' body language hasn't been great. That needs to be corrected somehow. His overall effort was disappointing but he looked a bit better in the 2nd half. Same with Bender.

Again, I liked Jackson and Reed. Reed needs more confidence in the 3 because he passed on a bunch when he should've just pulled it. He's a player tho. Great frame, long arms, was crashing the boards, playing D, handling the ball.

Yea there's no part of me that sees Chriss being a go to iso player and if he is getting doubled too that is a sure recipe for turnovers. I was hoping he would stop turning his back to the guard doubling down but hey , I think DJJ out there trying to do too much also and he did Ok in his minutes to end the season but we all know he is just really an athlete.

Josh and Davon gonna be fine

What I like is that his 3pt shot wasn't falling so yes he passed up some but also started going to the basket more with some and one's and couple dishes. A little thing but just another sign of a guy understanding how to play

Seth Greenberg loves Reed. Malcom Brogdan comparisons, but I haven't seen enough to Reed to see if there is truth in that or it's just a lazy take due to them both being 4yr players, from ACC Schools, who were drafted in the 2nd rd.

That was a lazy comparison, and he essentially admitted as much. Still didn't stop him from making it, so I guess talking head gonna talking head.

I was sitting behind the Suns bench for the game and Chriss was basically pouting the entire time. He even got all pissy with some dude on the roster (didn't look familiar and never got in the game). Even Booker and Big Sauce were taking to him to get him to chill.

I thought he actually looked pretty good last game outside of some pretty horrible defense, but this game was a train wreck for him. Hopefully it wakes him up a bit and he stops sulking. He has a lot of natural talent. Still plenty of time to figure it out.

I thought Bender played well actually. In person, it's impressive to watch him play D on just about everyone and make the right pass. He had some nice boards as well.

I'll try to report back more later. I plan on being behind the bench for tomorrow's game too.

bajanguy008 wrote:Well that is shocking stuff for me. I wasn't going to over react to some of his behaviour in the first game and I was coming to post that he is slow to the ball and getting beat on the boards. I have the tv on mute so didn't even hear Watson but how can a 2nd year 20yr old player be fat in the face and outta shape, I really thought it was gym size and as I type this him not being able to get to that alley oop is a telling sign also
Yeah, even saw a little belly on him in person.

Bender's shot has been long since he got into the league. People are commenting on it like it's a new development. He's been shooting as if the hoop is 2 feet further back since day 1. Maybe he needs lasik. Or he is the next Dan Langhi.

Chriss is turning into a little bitch real quick. If he keeps this attitude up send his ass out

Good stuff Tskaldidis. What exactly was he pouting about? Not getting the ball? Getting pulled? Ugh. Hate to hear this stuff, but not shocked.

I would be fine with trading Chriss. Let's get a real pf/c. I would take Len right now.

Let's hope it doesn't take them 20 minutes to get going tomorrow. Like all, very disappointed in Chris's behavior and body language. Looks like those starter minutes last year went to his head. He has a long way to go and should be doing better at this level of competition than he is.
