Monroe is garbage. Don't want him. I would take Faried maybe. He is a tenacious rebounder and a great athlete; plays hard, leaves it all on the floor. Our roster needs a little more of that. Have always liked him and his value is low right now.Split T wrote:What do people think of Monroe? He's a good offensive player, but he's a 5 that doesn't really defend the rim. He's kinda hard to play major minutes in today's NBA. You've got to put a rim protexting/floor stretching 4 next to him. Bender and Chriss make sense in theory. I'm kinda underwhelmed with the rumored trade options. Hopefully something decent pops up.

I'm not sure this is fair. It was reported that the trade requests were given during the pre-season. That isn't a lot of time to find a suitable deal sometimes. We can't know for sure if he hasn't been working the phones hard the last few weeks or not. We know he's taking calls now though.ShelC wrote:Yea no shit. McD sat on his ass again with a trade request until it blew up in his face. Bledsoe's value wasn't great anyways and now, once again, we have no leverage.

Basically confirming what most of us hoping will not be the case but could see the writing on the wall. Looking like not an ideal pkg coming , having to wait almost two months for a decent pkg or even worst waiting til Dec and then still not getting that good a pkg.

You'd be sitting Bender a lot more if you take Faried. Just something to consider.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:Monroe is garbage. Don't want him. I would take Faried maybe. That is true. I guess what I would like to see is for us to trade Chandler and/or severely cut his minutes back. Start Len at center, and run Bender as the primary backup center. The rotation would be something like this:carey wrote:You'd be sitting Bender a lot more if you take Faried. Just something to consider.
PG - Ulis, James
SG - Booker, Daniels
SF - Jackson, Warren, JonesJr
PF - Faried, Chriss, Warren
C - Len, Bender

It's up to leadership to see situations like this coming and put the organization in the best position to succeed. Either by helping players accept their roles, or by trading them while the value is high. A good front office wouldn't have to wait for the trade request to come in. I know a ton of us on this board saw the writing on the wall and wanted to trade Bled while his value was high.carey wrote:I'm not sure this is fair. I am fine with holding off on the trade until the right deal shows up. Heck, if we just make it seem like we are willing to wait, that might improve the quality of the offers.
Re: Bledsoe wants out!
If you were shopping him during the draft and let him know that, it's hard to bring a player back into the fold. I get that talks take place and things can fall apart in negotiations, but you shouldn't even put yourself in that situation to begin with. It can't be "Hey, we're shopping you to try and get better" and then "Well, we couldn't find a good enough trade so you're coming back and we expect you to be cool with that".
Monroe is capspace at the end of the year. He sucks defensively but can get a double double in 20 minutes. I think Faried could work next to either Bender or Chriss because he brings a different skillset.
And moving Bledsoe now is even harder because 30% of the league can't be traded until Dec 15th I believe.
The other issue I forsee is that we've told him to go away, at least for now. Can we keep him away from the team until we find a trade? Couldn't he file a grievance against the club for that? And then, if we bring him back into the mix, what kind of message does that send and what kind of attitude will he bring with him into the lockerroom?

Question:
Knowing what we know now about Bledsoe and the situation we're in, would you have wanted us to draft De'Aaron Fox instead of Josh Jackson?

Let him sit and wait. We do not need to make an immediate move. Let the desperate low-ball offers fizzle out. Once some contending team starts to lose, or has a pg injury, then things will heat up again.bajanguy008 wrote:

It would have made for a more balanced roster but I'm fine with how it turned out. Who knows who will be better in the future.ShelC wrote:Question:

No. Jackson was the best player. I still think he will be the best player in the long run. Draft the best player, not for need.ShelC wrote:Question:

I was here with you. I even told a Suns rep at the draft that I was half excited, but slightly disappointed they didn't draft Fox.carey wrote:Yes. You'll recall I wanted Fox anyway.ShelC wrote:Question:

Re: Bledsoe wants out!
Reading all of this, I have two thoughts. Now that James is playing so well and we have Ulis, it's not imperative that we get a PG back in return. Secondly, yeah, I'd rather just wait it out if we're not getting good offers right now. There shouldn't be a big hurry to get it done. We're not desperate for players or anything.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

James had 1 good game. He looks like a nice player, but let's not get carried away. He's on the radar now, he'll be on the scouting reports and will have some rough nights. We should go for the best deal regardless.
Re: Bledsoe wants out!
I still can't tell which will be better, but they both look legit right now.ShelC wrote:Question:

I also still think there were trades to be had. Would you have done Bled + Warren for a top 10 pick? In retrospect, I would, but I don't know that I would have at the time.
But I really go back to the Chriss trade. He might make me eat my words if he keeps playing like last night, but we gave up a good combo guard (Bogdon) and 2 picks to get him. I liked Skal and Dejounte Murray just as much as Chriss, and I've not seen anything yet suggesting that we have the better player. Of course, at the time we had Bled and Knight so Bogdon was expendable and Murray didn't make sense for us. But if we were smarter, we would have moved on from Knight and Bled back then and drafted Murray and Skal (or someone) and we could have a very similar team to today but with better guard prospects.

Re: Bledsoe wants out!
If the front office knew how Bledsoe felt at draft time, then I would say it pretty disappointing that they didn't draft Fox or DSJ at attempt to flip Bled for more draft assets.ShelC wrote:Question:

Am I happy with Jackson? Yes, very. I think he is going to be great.
Would I be happier with say... Fox and Isaac? Absolutely.
