If said guy was a center, we do have the space. Just remove Chandler, who is doing mostly nothing anyway. Diallo could be that guy this year, the same way other seasons I've been interested in the likes of Dedmon or Nogueira. Will also keep an eye on Indiana's Anigbogu, but he is said to have bad knees. Diamond Stone has tools too. Would also jump at the chance of adding one Hernangonez brother.Split T wrote:I don't think we have room for under the radar guys to get minutes unless they're taking time from our current projects.

Oh wow. Can you imagine a young core of Davis, Booker, Jackson, and Bender? Its such a nice combo of skills. And Warren would still be here too.Flagrant Fowl wrote:No kidding. Unfortunately, I think the rest of the league can smell the stink on Chriss. His value hasn't ever been lower than it is now.
I would even do this. Bledsoe, Chriss, Warren, Suns 19 first unprotected, Miami 18 first for AD. The salaries actually match.

I don't think new Orleans would accept a deal that didn't include Booker.

Apparently we are following 2 different Tyson Chandlers. 13 boards last night. Continues to board at a rate not seen for a player his age. What are your expectations that he's failing to deliver on? I think it's absurd the number of comments I've been seeing about "Chandler should have DNPs and ride the bench" and "Chandler does nothing". Outside of trying to play Len for 48 minutes a night, where else do you expect for us to get the level of C production we are getting from Chandler outside of Chandler right now?Ring_Wanted wrote:If said guy was a center, we do have the space. Re: Bledsoe wants out!
My coment about removing Chandler was regarding an eventual trade where we add another big man. Obviously, as it is, you have to play him unless you dare to go with Len-Bender for 48 mins.
The thing is Chandler doesn't defend. His rebounding is undeniable but like I've said in another post, I hate the way he lets people get close to him without putting his arm up. I see a lot of superfluous toughness but real defense, not so much. I get that he is 35, but too many times he just stays put looking at dudes instead of properly rotating. Pick and roll/pop situations are a problem when he is 1/2 of the defense.

Agreed,
The only thing that Chandler does is rebound. He's an awful, awful defender. Especially in pick and roll. How many times did Russell get wide open jumpshots off the pick n roll last night? Chandler sinks down 10 feet and just leaves him completely open. And when the guard drives on him it's so easy to get a floater over him because he doesn't put his hands up.

It's absurd. The way they complain, you'd think Chandler is stunting the development of better players on our roster by taking their minutes. Len can't play 48 minutes a game. Who is losing out by Chandler playing, especially as well as he's playing? Their "eye test" see's a player hurting the team whereas statistic and numbers say otherwise. But who cares about numbers, results and outcomes when a few armchair GMs think he's a waste of space on the court.Aztec Sunsfan wrote:+1AmareIsGod wrote:Apparently we are following 2 different Tyson Chandlers. 13 boards last night. This is interesting. I am really liking Mike James at pg. He doesn't see himself as the star. He facilitates but is not afraid to take the shot. He works really hard on D. His work ethic reminds me of PJ Tucker some. And Ulis backing him up is just fine.AmareIsGod wrote:Our issue is PF. So why not trade for Jabari instead. I think the Bucks are ready to move him. Bledsoe for Parker. Let Jabari heal. Deal Chriss for a better pick in the draft or something. I think the hype on Chriss is pretty high right now. But I would rather give Bender the minutes.

First off, you were the one calling out and, again, ignoring that I was talking about removing Chandler's minutes under the premise that we trade for another C.AmareIsGod wrote:Our issue is PF. Second, PF is not a concern (to me, at least) because the guys handling it at the moment are basically teenagers and I like what I see from Bender, not just in terms of potential but actual defensive ability.
Want to dip into how much Chandler tries to defend? Look up contested twos, preferably per36 to see the rythm at which people engage in keeping attackers from shooting comfortably. See that Bender leads our team at 17 (top15 league wide) shots contested per game, whereas Chandler gives you 9.5 (third page on NBA.com stats); Len at 12.3, decent enough.
While we are at it, look at FG% allowed by Tyson. Restricted area: 59% (on 15 attempts per game). Above the break threes: 45% (on 10 attempts per game). What's the direction the game is leaning towards today? Shoot threes and drive to the basket.
Oh, and let's also take a look at Chandler's contested rebounding rate: 35,3%, good enough only to make page 3 again among guys who have played at least 3 games. Or page 2 among centers only.
But no, I am being just a hater and arm chair GM. Come on now.

You're not watching the games. You just see double digit rebounds and get an erection. A tall stick with hands can get +10 rebounds.AmareIsGod wrote:It's absurd. I like Tyson. I'm sure he's got a lot of insight for the young guys. But he's awful on defense. No, we don't have any better alternatives right now. I'm not saying don't play him. But don't fool yourself into thinking Tyson is playing even average defense.

I've been watching the games. I've DVR'd all of them and even, sadly, watched a couple twice. I've already said a few times that his help defense has been pretty bad, near atrocious. He's also played pretty good man-to-man defense, especially when his stamina is high. As he fatigues, his effort level on defense definitely dips.
I agree that I'd be happy if we moved him, so long as we get equal contribution from whoever replaces him. Len isn't playing 48 minutes a game and Big Sauce is injured. It's hard to complain when a 35 year old center is averaging double digit rebounds in 24 minutes with a positive +/-. But that's all I'm hearing from everyone, due to how "awful" he is on defense. If he was awful it would be all the time and in all defensive circumstances. That's not what I'm seeing.

Re: Bledsoe wants out!
I don't really know how Milwaukee values Jabari. He's a very gifted young scorer, but I'm not sure they will want to pay him the max and someone will offer that to him. Antetekounmpo is their clear #1. Max money for an injury prone #2 who doesn't defend might not be super appealing in a small market like Milwaukee. But would they do Bledsoe straight up? I think it would take more. Would you do Bledsoe, Chriss and the Miami pick for Jabari and filler?JCSunsfan wrote:This is interesting. I am really liking Mike James at pg. He'd give us a much needed offensive weapon alongside Booker. In fact he's basically a power forward version of booker, albeit with two torn ACL's. Can we put together a good defense around Booker and Jabari? It's clearly got the makings of a great offense. I think I'd go for it. Booker/Jackson/Jabari as our core and use our 2018 pick to hopefully add a defensive big like Ayton, Bamba, or Williams.
