Suns 2015 Trade Deadline Aftermath
Re: Suns 2015 Trade Deadline Aftermath

Re: Suns 2015 Trade Deadline Aftermath
Actually he doesn't have much potential at all. He really doesn't have a good feel for the game, size bothers him on the interior, and he doesn't offer much defensively. He does rebound well though.

Trivia (no cheating): Name the top 3 current Suns in PER.

Bleds, Keef, and Knight?

As of yesterday. Only counting games played for PHX.Cap wrote:Bleds, Keef, and Knight?
Re: Suns 2015 Trade Deadline Aftermath
Wright is always up there because he only takes shots about 5 feet from the basket. I'm going to guess because we're talking about it that Goodwin is on the list? Also Markieff. I forget what's in PER but if turnovers are in it I'm not sure how Eric could be included.Shabazz wrote:As of yesterday. Only counting games played for PHX.Cap wrote:Bleds, Keef, and Knight?

Wright, Len and Keef. But I'm not counting anyone that hasn't played 500 minutes yet.
If we are only including games as Suns then I drop BW and add Marcus.

I think if Goodwin develops a reliable outside shot he's got All-Star potential. Unfortunately we haven't seen any indication of that from him yet.

People are too fixated on his outside shot. He already does some impressive things for a 20 year old. Getting to the line is a very important NBA skill.

He's got great athleticism and yes, he does some very impressive things - but he'll need a reliable shot if he's going to realize his full potential.Shabazz wrote:People are too fixated on his outside shot. Anyway, I say they have to give him minutes. The Suns aren't going anywhere this year and they need to invest playing time in Goodwin, Warren and Len.

Can't believe Marcus Morris is our best 3 point shooter at 40% as of last night.

Knight shot 1-5 last night, but he's shooting .405 on the season.carey wrote:Can't believe Marcus Morris is our best 3 point shooter at 40% as of last night.

His shooting is very important. If he never develops a good or at least decent shot, it dramatically lowers his ceiling as an NBA player. The league has plenty of guys who can pound the ball and charge into a defender. It needs more guys who can do that, plus shoot, plus find the open man with a pass if needed. I don't want to commit long-term or big-money to a guy like Archie if he's just going to plow into defenders every time on offense.Shabazz wrote:People are too fixated on his outside shot. You watch the last 2 games Mori? That isn't what he's doing at all.Mori Chu wrote:His shooting is very important. Yea he's got great body control and footwork to step around defenders and finish in the lane.

For all the kvetching about Goodwin's shot, he's 9-14 in the past two games.
At least he makes the shots he does take; shot selection is important, also.
Archie has stepped up his game with the extra minutes.
He's not the problem.

Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

Re: Suns 2015 Trade Deadline Aftermath
I saw the second half of both games. I liked what I saw from Archie a lot, don't get me wrong; he had good handles, got into the lane, penetrated well, finished pretty well, and just generally looked confident and looked like he belonged out there. All of that was very good. I just also hope that he will work on becoming a better outside shooter because that would be huge for his game and for his career.
