I agree. I just don't want it to seem like if we replace Canaan with a decent PG we will be an average (or even close to average) team. The only way that would work would be for that PG to be able to shoot like Curry and play defense like Murray. That guy doesn't exist.

I actually think there would be a marked improvement with a top 20 PG. Again, we're starting a player that if cut today would pass through the waiver wire and probably not get more than a 2-way deal. There are at least 7-8 teams out there whose 3rd stringers are better than Canaan.Indy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 12, 2018 12:54 pmI agree. I get what you guys are saying. But if we got a good PG, a lot of guys' effort level would go up. When your offense is humming, your defense can improve, too, even with the same players. I think the PG problem is really a gaping hole that also makes our defense worse and causes collateral damage in other areas.
Re: Suns News: Week 4 11/5-11/11
We need Steve Nash circa 2004.
Re: Suns News: Week 4 11/5-11/11
By "marked improvement" do you mean we will win games, or we just won't be down by 25 regularly?Shabazz wrote: ↑Mon Nov 12, 2018 2:23 pmI actually think there would be a marked improvement with a top 20 PG. I get what you're saying, but I don't think an average pg would do it. It would have to be a _good_ pg.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Tue Nov 13, 2018 1:20 amI get what you guys are saying. Agreed. Someone who draws the defense and let’s Booker and Ariza play how they’re most effective. Ariza isn’t someone who needs to be trying to create his own shot everynight. Someone who actually is good in the pick and roll with Ayton or knows how to pass to the post. That’s not too much to ask for. It would be the difference of getting blown out to being competitive every night.Shabazz wrote: ↑Mon Nov 12, 2018 2:23 pmI actually think there would be a marked improvement with a top 20 PG. I agree with you. I did not argue for an average PG. I literally say "good PG" in my post.O_Gardino wrote: ↑Tue Nov 13, 2018 8:29 amI get what you're saying, but I don't think an average pg would do it. I see you, Marty. I'm just emphasizing what you said because our earlier discussion included some folks thinking an average pg would elevate us.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Tue Nov 13, 2018 9:52 amI agree with you. If we split them into 3rds, I assume the guys #11-20 are average, 21-30 are below average, and 1-10 are good (with some being great). So if you think an average PG won't do much, and we need a good one, does that mean we need a top 10 PG in the NBA? How do we get one of those with the awful scraps we have on this team, unless you think we should be sending our pick this year and a good player like TJ?O_Gardino wrote: ↑Tue Nov 13, 2018 12:03 pmI see you, Marty. Re: Suns News: Week 4 11/5-11/11
Can we just go after Ricky Rubio after this season and steal him from the Jazz a la stealing Nash from the Mavs in 2004?
Re: Suns News: Week 4 11/5-11/11
Accumulated plus/minus for the season, Mikal is +8, team best. Trevor Ariza is -157, team worst. The Suns have outscored their opponents with Mikal on the floor, how wild!

I'd take him circa 1996 at this point.
Send me a PM if you're interested in joining the phx-suns.net fantasy basketball league.
Re: Suns News: Week 4 11/5-11/11
I'd take him circa 2014.
Or even circa 2018.

Re: Suns News: Week 4 11/5-11/11
That would be starters. Right now, we have at best a #21-30 backup (or #51-60 overall) as our starter. So I would take a #21-29 starter lol.Indy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 13, 2018 12:48 pmIf we split them into 3rds, I assume the guys #11-20 are average, 21-30 are below average, and 1-10 are good (with some being great).
