Respectfully: nobody, NOBODY, is going to take him for nothing. It is important for the "trade Beal" folks to understand that there is no trade. Nobody wants him and his contract. If anybody did, he would already be gone.
Well I would respond that we don’t actually know that. We don’t know why a trade didn’t materialize…it very well could’ve been Beal that blocked it.
Also, we were trying to trade him with 2+ years left. Dropping under 2 years left makes a difference. Like I said in my post, I have doubts anyone will take him this summer, but that doesn’t mean you don’t try.
I went on further to explain that I think he becomes even more tradable at the deadline…at that point it’s basically just 1 extra year.
My main point is I’m not really interested in attaching assets to him or waive and stretching him. Suck it up for one more year and he might actually be tradable.

He won't be any more tradeable at the deadline than he was this year. He'll be a year older and he can't stay healthy as it is. Maybe a team that's in shambles, like Denver, takes a swing on him to add some perimeter firepower opposite of Jokic but that's unlikely. How many teams would be lining up big contracts for him this summer if he were a 32 yr old FA? Give him a big, fat check to go away and let someone sign him to a minimum deal. He won't play more than 60 games a year going forward.

I come back to Orlando…they are desperate for some perimeter creation…now Beal would never be their first choice, but if they strike out on a few guys and it’s August and they still don’t have a good scoring option in the backcourt, I think they could talk themselves into Beal. Send out KCP/Isaac for him. Both those guys were bad this year and are owed money the next year too. Orlando would essentially be paying a 2 year 36 million dollar contract for Beal(that’s what he makes above KCP/Isaac). Probably a bit high, but that’s not crazy. They could throw Cole Anthony in there if they want the salaries to match.
Do I think that will happen? No…but it’s not a crazy notion. Teams always get desperate.

The only kind of trade anybody would consider for Beal is one where we either:
- attach future assets like 1st round picks or Dunn with him; or
- take back an even potentially worse contract, like maybe Paul George from Philly.
I don't want to do either of those things. Hopefully neither do Ishbia or (future Suns GM) Isiah Thomas.

I was just thinking about how Gambo didn't seem to offer much inside info after JJ took over under Sarver. The org kept things pretty tight. Now it seems like under Ishbia Gambo's back to being the official mouthpiece.

I fucking hate it but I’m 91 percent sure we are gonna buyout with a waive and stretch for Beal. Too much heat around people talking about it and to my knowledge, I haven’t heard Gambo say no and since Gambo is speaking with so much certainty that Beal is gone, add in the fact we had a hard time trading him, feels like this is where it’s all headed. Bobby Marks says it gets under the 2nd apron, it would also allow PTO Beal to still get paid while having the freedom to pick where he wants to play. It’s win win in Ishbia and Beal’s mind.
Not in my mind, what absolute disaster that would be. Just having 20 mil in dead cap for the next 5 years. Lmao.
Would rather eat shit and just keep him the next two years and let him expire. No matter what we are looking at with this “retool”, the best case scenario is still 2 years before we can mount a decent team again imo.

Buying out Beal would be such a colossal admission of failure for Ishbia. Just lighting $100,000,000 on fire and also saying bye-bye to all the picks and swaps we gave up to get Beal. LMAO, look at this trade again. Look at how fucking stupid this trade is. I bolded all the picks we gave away. And before some wise-guy comes in here and points out that these are pick SWAPS: Yes, but, (a) we also gave away FIVE second-round picks (not swaps), and (b) swapping away our 1sts means that if we are bad, we don't get the lottery pick, we lose it. A pick swap is basically guaranteeing that we get a crappy pick near the end of the 1st round those years, no matter how terrible we are. They're almost as bad as just losing our picks outright in those years.

The picks and swaps have been gone…buying him out doesn’t change that at all.
I also just don’t think we gave up all that much for him. Sure, when you lay it out like that it can appear to be a lot, but all the actual picks were 2nd rounders. Of the swaps, one already didn’t matter…the next one is unlikely to matter(and is a pick we don’t own anymore anyways). So maybe 2028 or 2030 matter, but Washington is still a long ways from being good.

Ya I feel like that’s what’s gonna happen too…I kinda wish we’d just buy him out and then not stretch him. If he gives back 20 million, that saves you 10 million a year, which is enough to drop below the 2nd apron. Then you get his salary off the books after 26-27 instead of waiting until 2030.

Not to go all hippie here or anything, but, it's already kind of unbelievable that a guy could get a contract for $100,000,000 to bounce a ball. But can you believe that a team might pay a guy $100,000,000 to just go away and NOT play basketball? That just blows my mind. How many people could live happy lives on that money? How many people could be cured of diseases, have roofs over their heads, have food to eat, clothes to wear? How many free cars could we give to young people who need them? Etc. etc. It's just crazy how much these top players make.
