Now that the Suns season is over...what's everyone's plans for entertainment? Gone fishing? Traveling? Something else to discuss than blown trades and watching the despair play out...

Knowing almost nothing about Brazil, I’d guess your top two choices are take up Capoeira or go to the beach and look at some butts.

I hate to say this, but it's not a secret or even controversial to this board, but the whole team needs to be blown up. Everyone with some value needs to be shipped off. You'll probably need to keep Nurk until he's worth something next season with an expiring contract. You'll need to trade KD, Grayson, O'Neal. Can't seem to trade Beal without giving up an asset, so this is horrible and I hate it, but you will probably need to trade Book too.

This team has no chance to compete in the next 10 years if they don't. The Lakers, Spurs, OKC, Memphis, Houston, and Denver are all set up to beat the Suns like a drum, and you could add Dallas, Minnesota to the mix too. And, that's just in the West. Probably could add other teams.

I don't know that the nuclear option is the definitive answer. We all know now that Booker isn't Kobe. He can't live up to that Legendary moniker. He's a level down from the top tier.

Having said all that, I still think you reward his loyalty and I think we all (well, not tin) agree that he is a very good complementary player. I still think we keep Booker and Dunn and build around that. I don't know that starting from the ground floor is the answer. There are no guarantees there either. You still have to get a little lucky and draft the right players. The SGA's aren't a dime a dozen.

But yeah, this combination isn't working or fixable. A major overhaul is necessary. A lot of us felt pretty good coming into this season. We quickly found out that this isn't it.

Book is my favorite player. I've been in his corner from the beginning, but you can't build around him. He's too easily put into positions to be turnover prone. You can't have him be your lone weapon, because it's too easy to turn him into a weapon for the other team(ie live ball TOs). He's the one player that could give you the most, because of his age. But even other teams aren't going to give up their foundation for him. He needs a full team around him, and missing probably 2.5 positions on the court isn't helping. He needs a dominate center and a PG that puts him into great positions. He also needs at least one other scorer so that teams can't just double him the whole game. It's just too hard without any assets to build around that. I wish he could play his entire career with the Suns, but that's just admitting that you won't compete for a title for the next 10+ years. If that's the plan, it sucks as a fan and tells the fans that you've given up on the dream of a title.

I will also give Jeremy his flowers. As frustrating as Ayton is, the trade didn't work out. We'd be better off having kept Ayton and Camara. Of course, we'd also have been a much better team if we hadn't made the Durant and Beal trades. A diminished Chris Paul would have been much better for this team. Just from a leadership perspective alone.

Ishbia swung for the fences and popped out on a weak fly behind the plate. Let's see how he recovers...or not. I'm not sure how you can watch this team and think Durant is the answer. Are we really going to re-sign him to another contract?

And due to the Paul for Beal trade, we are stuck with Beal for two more full seasons if he chooses. Smart man getting that NTC. Only him and LeBron have that assurance in the entire NBA.

I was all for the Beal trade at the time since they only gave up a washed CP3 and a bum in Shamet, along with pick swaps (I doubted at the time Wash would ever be better than the Suns, but maybe that changes now), and a handful of seconds, which are generally not valuable, but again maybe I'm wrong seeing as how Jones identified and drafted Oso and Camara in the second round. However, it quickly became apparent that Beal, while still a very good player, did NOT fit this roster construction at all. The Big 3 era has passed the NBA by, and of course the Suns are finding that out after the fact and are now stuck in the purgatory.

It's a shitty situation all around. Beal seems like a great guy, highly skilled player who could still be an All-Star in the right situation, but that NTC and length of the contract make him such an albatross.

As 'Bone said, the best course of action would be to build around Booker and Dunn. Get a solid group around them, which is why I think Houston would be the best trade partner for KD. Or trade KD to the Knicks and bring Bridges home.

What is really going to suck is watching the Suns miss the playoffs, somehow win the lottery, and hand Cooper Flagg over to Houston.

I think we have a disconnect here. I didn't say you build around him as your top player and lone weapon. I agree that he needs "a full team around him". That's what I'm saying too but it doesn't have to be elsewhere. I think we have enough other assets including Durant (stuck with Beal another two full years if he chooses). This team needs athletes and defenders. We're currently too offensively focussed. OKC is a great blueprint.

Book needs a big who plays like a big. He needs a Pau to his Kobe. KD is essentially a 7ft SG. But Book needs a true PG who can run a team and a legit 2way big. Fill in the rest with athletic defenders and shooters. Easier said than done, but that's the model IMO.
