I listen to Jalen's podcast and like it, but I do think he has his biases and picks his favorites sometimes.

Pretty crazy that a guy who has never coached at any level is now one of the five highest-paid coaches in the NBA.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

I'm not a fan of Jalen Rose.
He's as bad as Magic was, him and Simmons could disappear on plane and I certainly wouldn't miss them.

Why do people hate Simmons so much? He's one of the most honest, funny, savvy NBA analysts we have. He also has helped modernize the profession with his casual blog style, his podcasts, his online presence, etc. Plus he created Grantland, the only readable web site owned by ESPN. What's the beef with him? That he is a Celtics fan? That he has his biases? That he has a nasally voice?

Took me a while to dig up, but read this and maybe you'll kind of understand where the haters are coming from: http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/new ... e-20140429

I'm a huge fan myself, but I know he's certainly not for everyone.

Interesting article about Simmons. The guy is obviously pretty full of himself. I have enjoyed his writing in the past but he bores me on TV.

This guy in the comments section lays it out pretty well:
Bill Simmons used to be an edgy voice on the fringes of the sports world who provided sports commentary for guys like myself who think we're more clever than we actually are, with pop culture references and inside jokes referring to movies, music and other nerdy pursuits. I, along with thousands of others waited each week to read his spiraling diatribes about the NBA, NFL and whatever other topic he wanted to talk about, even the 10,000 word essays on the influences of Star Wars on popular culture.

The problems with Bill started when he started to get face time. The faceless Bill Simmons was funny, clever and managed to create a perfect mixture of sports and goofy pop culture references that were completely genuine and fresh. The Bill Simmons with face time showed a whiny persona, an at times shrieking know it all who outed himself as not quite as clever or confident as he seemed through his columns. I know I was disappointed with how this all went down, and almost immediately became bored and ceased reading his columns, as well as boycotting his television appearances.

Kind of sad that he turned out to be such a wanker. I always thought he'd be fun to hang out with and have a few drinks with, now I feel he'd be nothing more than the guy at the party who never made the squad and instead found ways to make himself feel better by putting down others. I'll keep the Bill Simmons from the early 2000's in my memory and ignore the last number of years.

Yeah, he got full of himself.

I used to like his columns a lot, but then he went from joking that he would be a great GM to actually believeit, he even tried to push the idea trough his columns,so his work went from " the sports guy" to "I'm an expert" . Thats when we lost him as a writer and turn into a diva.
