This is just the situation we're in. We're going to lose being this shorthanded. I don't think there's much else Monty or Jones can do. If we were healthy and losing these games, I'd be concerned.
I think you're being too lenient. There's no excuse for all the mistakes and turnovers they made no matter how shorthanded they are. The guys who played are professional basketball players and are expected to play like it.

25 turnovers is just inexcusible. And Ayton managed to sleepwalk through this one, which they can;t afford with all the players they have out.
This team does not look particularly well-coached right now, even taking into account the manpower shortage.
I'm sorry but a max player has to step up when he's healthy and we're missing so many. It's inexcusable (sorry Jeremy, hope you're feeling better). He just doesn't think that way and it's quite unfortunate.
Thanks, I'm feeling a lot better (except when watching the Suns

).
Yeah Ayton had a bad game. But we also can't discount the effect of
Shaq's Law. If I was DA, I would have mentally checked out of that game long before he did. Just look at how active he was getting himself open, calling for the ball 1-3 times
per possession and not receiving it--he probably called for the ball more than any other game of his career; I could probably count like 45 times that he was ignored. And much of that was when he only had like one or two misses so far. That and the 27 turnovers just became comical after awhile.
You have to get DA engaged early and often. Instead, he was visibly frustrated about not getting the ball early on. If the first time they go to him he misses the shot or turns it over, then they just give up on him. It's ridiculous.

I think it's a combo of fatigue from the road trip and being undermanned. Throw in playing your 12th-14th guys in different lineups and combos with little practice time and you're going to have sloppy play. It's the nature of the beast unfortunately.

Frustrating game. I thought Paul was awful in the first (and Mikal was invisible) which got us off to a rough start. He passed up two wide open 3s to generate worse looks (one Okogie congested look and one turned into a 24 second violation).
Our bench kept willing us back in to it, but Monty should have never gone back to Ayton. His defense killed us at the end: he had a really soft contest on Scottie Barnes’ 3 and then didn’t even bother to get out on Koloko’s. Game over. I don’t think he played as badly in the first 3 quarters as his stat-line suggested, Jock was just better.

Dude. They’re not
ignoring him. They were trying to get him the ball but the Raptors are long as hell, making entry passes tough, and they typically had someone behind him cutting off the lob. Those would have been terrible passes to throw. Stop making every time Ayton doesn’t get the ball on every possession some conspiracy. Trying to give the ball to Ayton in traffic (where he can’t dribble) would have played right into their hands.
