We spent all those years in hell precisely to be able to have the roster that did contend for 2-3 years. The Suns were never closer to the title (unless you consider the Nash era when Spus-Mavs-Suns were the finals, which I do, but I know it's wrong), up 2-0 with a team where most of the main pieces were drafted by ourselves no less. Absolutely worth it.

13-14 was awesome btw.
They didn't need to spend all those years wandering in the wilderness in order to build a team. They spent too many opportunities drafting players like Dragan Bender, Marquise Chriss, Josh Jackson, Alex Len and Kendall Marshall, signing free agents like Hakim Warrick and Tyson Chandler, and trading for others like Brandon Knight and Josh Childress. With competent management they had the resources to build a much more competitive team than they did.

Colangelo managed to take a team that was in the middle of a drug scandal, losing and rumored to be moving out of town in 1987 to the NBA Finals in 1993, so if you're competent it can be done.
I'm with you on all those moves except for Chandler. I think he was decent while he was here. But yeah, the fact remains that McD and company botched several drafts and didn't chose FAs well either.
Can't agree. I mean, he was basically done and his supposed skill (defense) was really never there for those Suns. He kind of rebounded but in the same way Nurkic is rebounding for us, it is, because essentially there is nobody else. At least he provided some resemblance of toughness and veteran leadership, unlike another waste of space like Trevor Ariza.
Well, we can agree on Ariza. He was the worst! Came in with a horrible attitude and his play was lackluster at best. He talent continued to dwindle the rest of his career. Story of our lives, finally getting players on the downside of their careers.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

If this forum were any indication you'd think Booker is on the downside of his too 😂

Well, sorry to tell everyone but this is peak Booker and he's pretty dang good. Maybe not the miracle worker some want him to be.

I'd be inclined to keep Okogie and see what they can get for Grayson Allen instead. At $15.6 million they'd have a better chance of landing a big man who could make some sort of impact around the basket. I wouldn't be looking for a wing player since they already have Booker, Beal, O'Neal, Dunn and Okogie.

FWIW, I don’t think Sidery knows anything…he’s definitely an aggregator and seems to me like he pretends to be an insider. Doubt he’s heard anything and is just connecting dots and being logical.

I think Morris and Okogie do make Grayson expendable for this season. Before the season, it felt like Okogie would for sure be a goner by the deadline but his 3pt shot looks pretty great so far but how sustainable is that? I guess we’ll see but if his shot is real , combined with his great defense, that’s only good news for us. Trade value becomes higher or if we trade Grayson, we can rely on Okogie.

Okogie still shooting 50% from 3? That won’t keep up, but it is promising. We really just need KD and Beal back. Things fall into place with them. I’d still look for a C upgrade, but it’s not a rush.

We lose Tyus in the offseason and I think we have to keep that in mind when it comes to trades. Grayson is a skilled guard and I don't want to trade him for a short term rental. Would be good for this year but then our guards basically become Book/Beal/maybe Monte next year unless we get lucky and get a big name on the minimum again

Hi all, I don't know if it was really very noticeable, but I haven't really been around the site much for the past 4-5 days. I live in Seattle area and my neighborhood lost power due to a "bomb cyclone" storm off the coast up here. Over 450,000 people lost power! Sadly my neighborhood blew out some equipment due to trees falling down or something, so it took them longer to get our power restored. As of last night it finally came back on. My family and I had been staying at a hotel most of the week. School and daycare was closed so it was fun wrangling our 4 kids in a tiny hotel room. But everything is back to normal now. Makes you appreciate the things you take for granted every day. This coincides with a bad little stretch for our Suns, so I'm hoping that next week will be much better for everyone! :-)

Sorry, to hear that Marty. Glad you are back to normal now. Nobody probably noticed but I used the new mood thingy with the sad emoji for a while due to the Suns lack of success and going through the motions and my youngest son's break up with his long term girlfriend. Also learned my 85-year-old mom has stage 4 colon cancer. Not a great time in the Superbone universe. Glad we have this site to commiserate.

So sorry to hear it, Bone. A good friend of mine recently lost her father and is still going through a tough time. I talked to her the other day and she said about what you'd expect: "Call your parents. You just never know."
