I agree; I don't find much value in Roddy. Maybe if we were rebuilding and could give him minutes, but I just don't see it.

I thought Aaron Nelson got fired from New Orleans…he clashed with Van Gundy and Zion…also they were always hurt.
I thought the same but checked. He is currently listed as "Special Advisor to the Medical & Performance Team" for the Pelicans, whatever that means.

Maybe he is still under contract, so they created this make-believe position while they still pay him.

I had a feeling at the end of last year Hayward might come to us. I’m not sure how I feel about it now that we don’t have Aaron Nelson anymore.
Aaron Nelson was applying cutting edge training techniques 25 years ago when he was with the Suns. Pretty sure the rest of the league has caught up by now. The Pelicans certainly don't seem to be less injured than the rest of the league (maybe more so!).
Right. I don’t mean that Nelson himself is still the hot shit anymore, more so that the Suns are no longer known for having a magic training staff.

When they claim him off waivers do they basically pay the remainder of his contract?

Yep, they just take over the contract

I must be old because $20M/3 still seems like a ton of money. I liked Bey in the draft, but he hasn't improved much in his time in the league. At least, that's how it looks by the numbers. Can't say I've gone out of my way to watch him. I thought he was a minimum contract guy.

It sure seems like a lot for a guy who's badly injured and will miss most/all of the first season of the deal.

I think Trent was making $18.5m and Klutch turned down $15m/year because they wanted $25m/year. Now the Raps pulled the offer. Wonder how it shakes out.

I'd love Trent here, but he can probably do better both in terms of minutes and $$$ than we can provide.

I don't know...I know we're only dealing in minimum deals but I'd take a bunch of those guys over Okogie I think. You can also add Devonte Graham and Bertans to the list.
I haven't had much of an appetite to bring back Okogie, and I agree there are better options out there that can likely be had for the minimum. But I went back and watched Games 3 and 4 against Minnesota, and just based on those games, I can see why the Suns are still open to bringing him back.

The problem again is roster construction. We still have needs that Okogie doesn't address, and a third of the roster is devoted to shooting guards 6'5 and under.

I really like Dennis Smith Jr. but I guess he is outside our price range
I'd be surprised if someone gave him more than the minimum. He isn't that good.
