We shouldn’t be worried about whether he’d resign, we should be worried about whether he’d be good enough that we’d want to resign him.
His game will age well. I think he could play into his mid-late 30s. He’ll be 33 when his contract is done, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think he’ll play well to 35-36
You’re right, but he could also get hurt this season and fade away. He’s already had multiple foot/heel/Achilles injuries
I like Conley, I really do. But I don't think he's more than a 14/6 guy for us, and I'm glad we didn't give up 2 picks + cap space to pay him all that money just to be a good solid veteran.

Sure. So could any player. So we'd be smartest not signing anyone at all because they're rather young and bad, or old and injury prone.
When people ask you survey questions with a scale of 1 to 10, are you answers always either -1000 or a billion?

Have you ever taken a risk in your life? Or are you the guy who drives 45mph on a 45mph limit. And puts $10 on red and $10 on black at the same time.

Rumor has us interested in Chris Paul. I really really don't want us to acquire him. That contract is insane and he has a toxic attitude. I don't think he would behave well when surrounded by so many young kids and such a weak roster.

Come on...that’s a bad take. Conley has legitimate injury issues. He’s hurt every year. There’s a huge difference between him and someone without injury issues.

That’s an equally bad take.
He’s played 70 (69) games 2 out of the last 3 seasons. It’s so overblown. You can find problems with every player if you look hard enough.

Sure, he had a bad injury, it happens to every player at some point.
Devin Booker hasn’t played 70 games in 2 years.

I think this isn't the worst idea. Apparently, Houston isn't even asking for anything back. No picks, just salary for salary.
You would have to trade Tyler, TJ, and Josh for Chris and then still have around $10 mil available for FA, and still be able to bring back both Oubre and Holmes. This way you could either take a PG(like White to backup Paul) or PF(Clarke for help next to Ayton) with the 6th pick and BPA with the 32nd pick. The $10 mil could be used on a PF like Vonleh, who would fit very well next to Ayton. Then next year, get your PG in the draft and the MLE and BPE is available. His contract finishes before the extensions of Ayton or Bridges becomes active, so it doesn't hurt in luxury tax type issues.
Other than the declining value of him as a player and reported surliness of Paul, he would bring a bit of winning and attitude to the team to push them forward.

I’d rather put a raffle out each night and have a lucky fan run the point than CP3

Well, there is the possibility of striking out in the draft and FA...that's a good option too.

Nobody likes playing with him, and he has played more than 70 games a total of 2 times this decade. If you are spending 40M a year on a single player, it better be a player that plays and one that makes your other guys want to play harder.

I’d take that over CP3. I don’t want him independent of his contract.

I wish the team would take more risks. But betting $1000 on 12 isn't a smart bet, even if it makes you feel better than betting $100 on black 10 times in a row. Your odds are much better to pay off on the latter, but the former feels fun (especially if it is someone else's money).

Conley to Utah according to Shams.
Sounds like a reasonable deal the Suns could have matched.
Sigh. We just stand pat and watch every other team aggressively improve their roster
James sits back and says, "I will not be pressured. Patience...."
We’ve been hearing for a long time that we wouldn’t pursue Conley and yet you are all disappointed?

As others have said, I think they were looking to move Conley to a good team.
Conley would make us a good team.
?? Is Conley the difference between 19 wins and 55? (Serious question--as I am not sure how much better this team would be because we have been beat down so much the last 5 years)
No - but I don't think we were as bad as our 19 wins indicated (let's say 25 wins with a fully healthy roster). I could see him taking us from 25 to 34. We'd also still have the 6th pick and other pieces to make moves.
That’s not good enough. Conley wants to go to the playoffs.
