Then Trade Nurk, and as many 2nds until the raps says yes for Olynyk.

Boom, call it and Ishbia, hook Pat Reilly up with a nice house, on the company dime.

2031 called. Miami's drafting in the lottery with our pick, but we're fondly remembering that we actually won a playoff series in 2025, so it's totally worth it!

Actually in 2026 we blew the team up and got all our picks back along with Amen Thompson and Reed Sheppard. We drafted AJ Dybantsa and developed Dunn/Oso. Our 2031 team ran out Sheppard/Thompson/Dybantsa/Dunn/Oso, won 58 games and nearly upset the Wemby Spurs in the WCF. We gave up the 25th pick that year to Miami.

And, uh, how exactly does the Butler trade contribute to this hoard of picks we're about to acquire? And how did we get AJ?

Didn't you hear? Every NBA team shares the mutual interest in helping the Phoenix Suns be great. So the Rockets and several other teams are going to do us a solid and trade us a decade of their future for 1-2 years of KD hype! Mighty nice of them. They're seeing how great things are going for us, with a bunch of old gunners and no future, and they want a piece of that action for themselves. Go Suns!

When it didn’t work, we pivoted in 2026 and traded Booker, Durant, and Butler. Got all our picks back, tanked and won the lottery, drafting AJ Dybantsa.

When you use eight of them in one year, the next two are like a decade’s worth.

I called you back in 2031, still don't give two shits about the middle lottery trash pick at best since Ishbia continued to sign quality free agents and utilize every ounce of his salary cap to bring stars on board.

Yeah, my voicemail is getting filled up with that one. The “It doesn’t matter that the owner never spares a thought for the future because he’s rich” line gets a lot of play.

I don't regret trading those picks at all.
We have KD. We have Booker. I'm sure in the future we'll sign another top end FA when we have cap space. At any point we could flip those for picks if we decide we'd rather have mystical magical theoretical picks that are a complete shot in the dark rather than actual proven talent

That “actual proven talent” has actually proven to be a lot less than we were hoping when we traded away our mystical magical theoretical picks for a mystical magical theoretical team that hasn’t come together.

You could easily trade and repeat. KD and Booker are much more valuable assets than a couple first round picks. Theres not a team in the league that wouldn't offer two first rounders for each of them if we wanted and there's a reasom for that.
