Dikembe played until just shy of his 43rd birthday. Is he the oldest ever (until LeBron passes him)?

As far as I know. I remember Robert Parish made it to 42.

Nat Hickey was a couple days short of 46 when he played 2 games in 1947-48.

OK, looked it up. I don't count the first guy. Was coaching and put himself in and way before any of our times.

Nat Hickey
The oldest man to play in an NBA game was Nat Hickey, who got into two games with the Providence Steamrollers on Jan. 27 and 28, 1948. Hickey played the second of those games two days shy of his 46th birthday.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_o ... BA_players

The second-oldest player is Kevin Willis, who played 20 seasons (excluding the 1988–89 season he missed due to injury) in the league before he sat out the 2005–06 season and earned a contract with the Dallas Mavericks on April 2, 2007.[5] Willis then played five games for the Mavericks at the age of 44.[4] The third-oldest player is Hall of Famer Robert Parish. Parish, who played with the Boston Celtics in the 1980s, played his last season with the Chicago Bulls at the age of 43.[6] He played in 1,611 regular season games during his 21-year career, more than any other player in NBA history.[4] When the Bulls won the 1997 Finals, Parish became the oldest player ever to win the NBA championship. There are 32 players who played in the NBA after they turned 40. Following the retirements of Udonis Haslem and Andre Iguodala shortly after the 2022–23 season,[7] the oldest active player is LeBron James.

Dikembe was sixth. I was wrong. Parish made it to 43.

I think Parish is the real oldest player…Those 2 games he played were the only 2 of his career. Kevin Willis played 43 minutes in those 5 games he played at 44. Parish played 40+ games and over 400 minutes at 43. Oldest player to still have somewhat of a role.

Looks like our own oldest was Grant Hill at 39.

Yeah, Crawford is not far behind, but the others aren’t even close in their time with us.

I imagine Chris Paul is pretty high on our list. And Durant.

I personally would enjoy seeing Lebron play for several more years, so long as his body can handle it. I didn't think he would be this durable and this good at this age. I have never bought into the Lebron = GOAT argument (over MJ), but if Lebron played until 43-44 years old and kept running up the crazy career stats and records, you'd have to think that several of those records would stand for a long time. It would be fun to see him keep going and keep pushing his numbers up. And Lebron seems to do that without dragging the team down with him, a la Kobe in his last 1-2 years when all he cared about was getting up his shots as the team rotted around him.

He fills the stat sheet…he’s still the same inefficient offensive player though.

No misses, no turnovers. Not the day to call him inefficient.
