It basically comes down to -

If Beal wants his full $111 million for the next two seasons, the Suns are stuck with him. He's practically untradeable, and even if they could find a deal he can still veto it.

If Beal is willing to take a buyout at less that $111 million (and enough that they could stretch his contract) he would still cost them about $20 million a year for five years.

Neither option is very appealing. As it looks now, if you hang onto Beal for two years there may be some financial flexibility in 2027, especially with Durant coming off the books in 2026 if he's still here.

Probably the quickest way to straighten out their salary cap nightmare is to burn it to the ground, trade Durant and Booker for draft picks and contracts that come off the books in a year or two, Hang onto Beal and see what market there is for him next year, and then start the heavy lifting of the talent acquisition in 2027. I don't see them doing this because I don't think they're willing to bite the bullet for a couple of seasons. But it's up to Ishbia whether he wants to pay a $200+ million tax on a 45-win (at best) team next year.

Anybody who made statements like "Beal is 100% gone this summer" is blowing smoke; they don't know what they are talking about. I really don't think Beal is going to just give up $111 million because the Suns FO is having a sad about trading for him. He and his family like living in Phoenix and he likes making lots of millions of dollars a year to play. There is no strong incentive for him to change that. If we find a good trade for him, maybe he would consider it, but good luck.

You can buy him out, but again, if your plan is to ask him politely to just give away tens of millions of dollars because you have buyer's remorse, good luck with that. He will want what his contract owes him. Stretch it over 5 years if you want, but he isn't taking $80 out of $111 just to be nicey nicey.

And if that makes you mad, consider: Would you give up $31m for literally no benefit to you and your family, simply because your employer has decided that you suck now? Would any of you do that?

It also isn't very clear to me why we should buy him out. So that we'll only be in the 1st apron rather than the 2nd apron? What good does that do us? We will still be way over the cap, unable to make many moves to improve the team. Why not just eat his salary for 2 years rather than having a cap hit anchoring us down for 5 years? Trade KD, get some picks, be bad/mediocre for 2-3 years, try to recover after that with cap space and youngs and picks. No need to prolong the dark times.

There are better ways to get under the 2nd apron than eating Beal's contract. Declining the options on Cody Martin and Vasilije Micić will get them close. Making a deal with Durant where they take back a little less salary would do it, or they could trade Allen or O'Neal. It would free them up from some restrictive tax penalties, but they still wouldn't have much to spend next year. And I know a lot of people don't want to move Booker, but I thik that it's probably the best thing for flexibility and also our best chance for getting a piece to build around.

Beal for Dame and call it a day.

Milwaukee needs to compensate us for that if we do it. It doesn’t help us financially at all and Dame may never play again.

I think there’s a chance Beal accepts a buyout. He’s still a useful player, just not 50 million. I think he could maybe get 10-12 million per year from someone, so could see him giving up 20-25 million.
