If you use your high salaries in trades before they expire (such as trading CP3 for Kyrie), you can keep building the team. The Warriors were even able to turn a free agent (KD) into DLo through a S&T and then trade DLo for Wiggins.TOO wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 3:39 pmOy, in a system without a salary cap, sure. But this isn't baseball. You can't just throw money at people to build a team.

On both sentences: "Then stop acting like paying a half effort role player a max deal is a good idea" and "Stop acting like we make the 2021 Finals without him." it's about judging present performance vs past achievements, throwing age just right now is highly convenient just to keep deflecting how mediocre Ayton has been... besides, 2021 it's just so far distant to keep milking it.JeremyG wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 4:46 pmCP3 is too old to do what he did in 2021. The context before where you started quoting was winning championships—thus why I mentioned the 2021 Finals. It had nothing to do with so-called “distant” past vs. present. Ayton has proven he is capable of helping a team reach the Finals, and has shown no reason presently to think he can’t do the same again (unlike Paul, who has declined due to age).Aztec Sunsfan wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 5:14 pmOn both sentences: "Then stop acting like paying a half effort role player a max deal is a good idea" and "Stop acting like we make the 2021 Finals without him." it's about judging present performance vs past achievements, throwing age just right now is highly convenient just to keep deflecting how mediocre Ayton has been... besides, 2021 it's just so far distant to keep milking it.JeremyG wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 4:46 pmCP3 is too old to do what he did in 2021. I swear I’ve never seen a fanbase complain so much that a player steps up his game for the playoffs. You would think it would make people consider him to be more valuable, not less.

We're not talking about the series vs Dallas last year are we? Did they even have a dominant center that was shutting down Ayton or was it a case of him not rising up when he plays against smaller teams?JeremyG wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 7:43 pmThe context before where you started quoting was winning championships—thus why I mentioned the 2021 Finals. What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Yeah, it's getting pretty old that every time I discuss anything, people have to try to bring Ayton into it.

Not only the Dallas series is more recent, but we can as well return to that magic ‘21 run and still find out that we didn’t win it all, and a big part of it was that Ayton’s lunch was eaten by Giannis, and by the way Jeremy, you didn’t said “reaching” was the context, but “winning”, so, under that measure, both Paul and Ayton have nothing to show for it, except that Paul had walked that path more times, and before you pivot back to play the age card, or whatever picky argument that makes you feel better, lets leave it here, Ayton is great, you are right, the vast majority of the world is wrong.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 8:26 pmWe're not talking about the series vs Dallas last year are we? Maybe one of the best parts of the Kirye-to-Suns trade falling apart it’s avoiding the risk that you started to believe the earth is flat and pushing it here endlessly!!!

Of course you didn’t, I was joking, as anyone could tell the moment I wrote “in-house-experts”… again it just some ribbing, great to see around here again, even if we rarely agree on Ayton’s.JeremyG wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 7:34 pmNever said that.Aztec Sunsfan wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 5:16 pmMeh, according to our in-house experts, he is most likely to be traded than Ayton!!!TOO wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 4:35 pmAlso Booker was pretty decent.Aztec Sunsfan wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 4:08 pmSuns make it to the 2021 Finals with Ayton, but also thanks to Monty and CP3, so, the latter 2 should also get a free pass from you as well, right Jeremy?
