Like some others, I'd love to see what Butler would do for this team, but I also see that the only viable path of getting him is if Beal were open to a trade or could be traded, and that seems like a pretty big stretch...thus, moving on.
The obvious real shortcoming has been at center of course. Vucevic seems like the right answer...and it doesn't seem like a straight up swap for Nurkic is going to cut it. So I'll utter sacrilege...
Option 1: Swap + the 2 2nds we have (I believe)
Option 2: Swap + 2 2nds and the '31 first
Option 3 (Here it Comes): Swap Allen for a first maybe and then include that with Nurkic for Vucevic?
Anything workable there? I know, especially on 3, sacrilege...but something has to give...and Lord knows there's no leverage over Beal, so if we are going to improve somehwere, Center it is...and Vucevic seems like the best available option...and you're not getting him for Nurick straight up (even though he IS 4 years younger...)

Illegal bro.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but I have to ask...why?
A Grayson trade to a team that could provide a pick AND absorb Grayson's outbound salary would be one transaction and would add a pick into our bundle of toys. Wouldn't that count as its own transaction? At that point, as the salaries pretty much seem to match up, that 'seems' clean to me, (though I freely admit I might be missing something.) I mean, the trade talks around Vucevic so far have been about our 2031 already and Nurkic...I was just figuring they'd want something 'sooner' and the only way I see we get that is trading the one moveable asset we have...ie, Allen.
So, if I missed a detail here, love to hear why...

Vucevic makes more money than Nurk
Can't take back more than we send out
Up Nurkic's salary by $1.8M?

Allen for Stix and Duarte. Does Stix move the needle for us as a 5?
Saw one Suns fan account jokingly mention Philly needs a center. They could be a decent landing spot for Nurk but it'd be tough to make the salaries match.
Yup…. We finally have a guy who wants to spend but has hamstrung himself being overly ambitious.

I like Vucevic as a mild upgrade over Nurk, but he isn't what we truly need, which is a rim-runner and athletic defender at C. Somebody who can catch lobs and finish at the rim, clean up offensive rebounds and put-backs, set hard screens to give KD and Book open shots, young, athletic, strong. It'd be nice if he could shoot a 3 but I don't need that. Vuc is certainly better than Nurk but he just camps out at the 3-point line. He isn't a difference-maker and he isn't going to turn us from 12th in the West (or whatever we are) into a contender. So why bother?

I agree with the premise of what you are saying. I also think we need a rim runner(we are dead last in rim attempts), but Vuc is much more than a mild upgrade over Nurk…they are in completely different stratospheres. Vuc is 20/10/3 on 56/43 shooting. Nurk is 9/9/2 on 43/32 shooting. Nurk also averages more turnovers with far less usage.

Nurkic and 2nd round pick for Nick Richards. What say ye? Hearing rumors. He sure looked good against us.

I think Sidery is fake…but Nurk for Grant Williams and Richards is interesting. Taking on Williams salary with his torn acl, achilles, or whatever he ruptured kinda makes up for taking Nurk

I’ve wanting a Nurk for Nick Richards and Grant Williams trade since early December.
This was my original proposal on Dec. 5 because I thought two 2nds wouldn’t be enough. Now this trade could probably get don’t with just 2nds from the hornets

Bulls: Nurk, ‘26 1st (from CHA via Dallas), 2 2nds (PHX via Denver).
Hornets: Vucevic
Suns: Grant Williams and Nick Richards

I'd love a Nurk / Richards deal. Get it done, JJ / Ishbia!

Would do it for sure (btw I also posted Nurk for this package, back in Nov., but mistakenly wrote Nick Smith instead of Nick Richards haha).
Btw, CHA has DAL's 1stR in 2027 (top 2 protected, then 2028 2ndR). If I am CHI I'd jump all over this offer, but with the Bulls FO you never know. They are so hesitant to make trades and seem content to just be decent/mediocre.
Under this scenario, would you also consider taking Patrick Williams from CHI hands if they feel buyers remorse? Obviously not lived to his #4 overall status, but is athletic, a good defender and has some versatility to his offensive game even if the production is mediocre (ok 3pt% tho). $18M per, 5 years. Still just 23yo. Might be the new Wesley Johnson, though.
Suns: Patrick Williams, Richards for Okogie, Nurkic, 2 2ndR.
CHA: Vucevic, Okogie for DAL 27 1stR, Richards, filler to CHI (any combination of Micic, Mann, Williams, Josh Green).
CHI: DAL 27 1stR, our 2 2ndR, Nurkic and CHA filler for Williams and Vucevic.

Not sure why the Hornets would take Nurk and some 2nd for Richards but I wouldn't complain about it. And while he'd obviously help, we shouldn't overvalue him or think he'll make us a contender. He's a backup who other teams' fans pine away for but if you watch him or read what the Hornets' fans say about him, you get why he's a backup and why he's probably available. Bad hands, leaves his feet too much, out of position and gets in foul trouble.

Absolutely, nobody is saying he's a savior. But adding athleticism and removing Nurkic is an obvious improvement. For a second or two, I'd be mre than happy.
