Wow, what a letdown re: Knight. No way we can move him now without sacrificing picks.

He was practicing really hard to get a chance next season.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason
Actually might be helpful for us. I'm not sure we were going to find a trade for him. Now he can just rehab where he wants and we avoid the potential awkward locker room situation. We can try to trade him next off-season when his contract is only 2 years. Or just stretch waive him.

Calling it now; his NBA career is essentially finished.

I agree that this isn't a bad thing as far as the Suns are concerned. Now we aren't forcing a disgruntled player to return to our team only to sit on the bench.Split T wrote:Actually might be helpful for us. I'm not sure we were going to find a trade for him. As for Knight the poor guy just can't catch a break. He has been awful on the court for us but I really appreciate the way he has been professional off the court. I feel bad for the guy.
I hope he eventually finds a team he can thrive on.

Blew his knee out in Florida at a ProAm tournament, according to Gambo.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Exactly this. Bad for Knight, and I do feel bad for him. He is a good guy personally. I hope he fully recovers soon.Split T wrote:Actually might be helpful for us. But it is a moment of clarity for the Suns. There is no point in trying to trade him. No giving up assets to move him. He will not be a playing time distraction and I am so thankful we will not have to have the "play BK and build up his trade value" conversations throughout the year. He will not take away playing time from other players. He opens up a roster spot, and while he takes up cap space, its space we werent going to use anyway and Sarver still gets to collect the insurance (which I am sure exists). He is a $14 million cap hit (on paper) and nothing else.
Brandon Knight Torn ACL - Entire 2017-2018 Season in Jeopardy
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nba/1828/brandon-knight
Brandon Knight reportedly tore the ACL in his left knee and he's in danger of missing the entire 2017-18 season.
Knight suffered the ACL tear while playing in a pro-am game last week in Miami and he's expected to have surgery on Friday, at which point we should get a firm timetable on his recovery. Given the current direction of the Suns' franchise, they may consider outright waiving Knight if they're unable to find a trade partner willing to take on his contract worth roughly $44 million over the next three seasons. Obviously, Knight won't be worth targeting in any format on draft day. Jul 25 - 5:00 PM

There are still about three months to go until the 2017-18 NBA season begins, but the Phoenix Suns have already suffered a huge setback.
The Suns announced Tuesday that point guard Brandon Knight suffered a torn ACL and they expect him to miss the 2018 season.
Via Suns.com:
Phoenix Suns guard Brandon Knight has sustained a torn ACL in his left knee and will undergo surgery, it was determined following an examination with Head Team Physician Dr. Tom Carter. The injury occurred last week while Knight was playing in his native South Florida. A timetable for his return will be determined at a later date, though he is expected to miss the 2017-18 season.
This would presumably open up more playing time for Tyler Ulis, who shined at the end of last season when both Knight and Eric Bledsoe were dealing with injuries.

Yep, at least no awkwardness on the bench about not playing him. Gotta start squeezing those lemons...
