Im genuinely surprised to have the coaching search done this early. the contract appears to be a commitment to some consistency. Hopefully he is worth the contract.

Glad we got our guy, glad he's been a head coach before, glad he has people in the FO who wanted him and have worked with him before. Monty seems to be a class guy who's beloved around the league.

I thought they wanted Ty Lue?

I'm very skeptical at anything this front office does, so while I think the extra experience is nice, I need to see results on the basketball court before I start to get excited.

Monty is an outstanding guy. I just hope since being fired by the Pelicans he has learned from Pop and Brett Brown how to get your franchise big guy the fucking ball.

The 5 year contract tells me he was Jones' guy all along and that the second meeting was about selling Sarver on Monty and not Monty on the Suns.

Apparently, we hired him 1 year and 1 day after having hired Kokoskov.

I'm gonna be honest here
I know the awful truth is that the world is about Results and Just being a good guy isn't enough but I still remember watching him speak at his wife's funeral because of how powerful it was and that in itself has me happy with this hire
Of course X's and O's matter but it can't be understated that over the last few years we have also lacked the right personality coach who can get through to the youngsters and have their ear. Just my hunch

Even couple on the court things like having been on the staff with Embiid , and HC for the Brow should help with Ayton
Working with Team USA he probably got to know Book a lil over the last couple summers and he seemed to be one of the assistants that work with the players after practice probably even playing some 1on1. Knowing Book I am guessing they maybe spent a decent amount of time together. Anyways just my initial reaction and lil 2cents

At least this one has previous experience. Lets be honest though. He will be gone before the end of the third season. No way he survives 5 years with Sarver.

Yes now to think of it, I believe Brow usage rate went up a bit with Gentry and you would have watched that more closely than most of us so hopefully that's the case and lessons learnt last couple seasons

Last three years with Pelicans .... 27 wins then 34 and then 5th seed with 45 so something positive might still happen in that time frame
