Suns (41-9) @ Hawks (24-26) Thurs, 2/3/2022

Post by bajanguy008 »

Time: 5:30 pm AZ (4:30 pm PT/7:30 pm ET)
Place: State Farm Arena, Atlanta, GA
TV: BSAZ, TNT

This matchup tends to be decent every season, think Trae had really given us problems and the PnR with Collins or Capela but last two matchups we have done a better job on him IIRC. One of the main keys is always making him work on the other end and I highlighted this last season because they would try to hide him on Mikal. We did a decent job attacking that and I am looking forward to see if they stick with this strategy as Mikal has grown alot since then and is coming in on a high with his b2b 20pt games.

Saw this and just had to make the thread :) 8-)

Go Suns !!

From the Suns guide:
  • With a win tonight, the Suns would move to 42-9 on the season, the best start in franchise history through the first 51 games of a season
  • The Suns enter tonight riding a league-best 11-game win streak, the 2nd time in franchise history (2007-08 season) Phoenix has notched multiple 10+ game winning streaks in the same season (won a franchise record 18-straight earlier this year)
  • After clinching a berth to coach in the NBA All-Star Game on Jan. 30, Monty Williams was named the Western Conference Coach of the Month for January, hissecond such honor of the season (Oct./Nov.)
  • After scoring a then season-high 26 points Sunday vs. the Spurs, Mikal Bridges poured-in a season-high 27 points Tuesday night vs. the Nets
  • Chris Paul has notched 20+ points and 14+ assists in a career-long three-straight games entering tonight and has 7 double-doubles in last 8 games.
From the Hawks guide:
  • The Hawks have won seven straight games against the Suns at State Farm Arena, including eight of their last nine games.
  • In those seven consecutive wins, the club is averaging 112.1 PPG and 25.1 APG.
  • The last time Phoenix made its way to Atlanta, the Hawks took a 135-103 (+32) victory on 5/5/21.

Sounds like I need to put in a wager to test the power of my own curse against these Suns ability to end streaks.

Last time the Suns played the Hawks it was a tough contest. Young, Bogdanovic, Huerter, and Collins all played well. Got to rebound and defend the perimeter.

ATL's the kind of team I'd expect would give us problems - they have the dynamic scoring guard, a ton of shooters all around and nice size up front. They're getting hot from 3 now so we gotta see how long Monty sticks with guys like Elf and Ish.

Why did the hawks just foul when they had 4 back and we only had 2 on offense?

He looks like he's playing at half speed.

That play where the loose ball was near him, right? I had the same thought. Awful fit for our offense.
