SITE OUTAGES

Hi all,

I'm so terribly sorry that the site has been down for over a day now. There was a big outage with my hosting provider, then a database loss, then more drama on top of that. I've been working with the provider and restoring the site from backups. I believe almost all posts and user data have been recovered (phew!). But unfortunately we lost around ~ 1 day of posts, including most of the Phx / Dal game day thread. Sorry; that was the most recent backup we had.

For now I have needed to disable the "Like" (heart) feature on posts; for some reason it isn't working properly. But that's okay, we can survive without it for now. I'll work on it. I want to let the site sit for a while and just let it stabilize and be healthy for a while before messing with it any further.

Hopefully the recent issue with passwords failing will be resolved now. I think the bad password info was being stored in a cache that has since been wiped, so I think users who were having trouble logging in ("incorrect password" even though you typed the correct password) should be able to log in now.

If you notice anything else that is messed up on the site, please do let me know. Thanks to all of you for bearing with me through this! And I hope not too many people were scared off / won't come back. I remain committed to keeping this site up and running for the foreseeable future.

I was among the people who were locked out of the site; in my case it’s been 10 days or so.

Today I was able to successfully use the password reset option via email, which is something that hadn’t worked prior to the outage yesterday despite multiple attempts.

For people who may still be experiencing difficulties, I’d recommend trying that route.

I think I have fixed the tweet/media embedding feature *, as well as the Like (heart) post button. Try 'em out! While I was at it, I enabled post formatting buttons on the "quick reply" box so it's easier to do things like Bold/Italic fonts and colors and such things in posts. Better?

* I found that in a few cases, an older post didn't do the tweet/media embed, but if I edited the post (without changing it) and re-saved it, the embed would return.

BTW I also added a new extension called "Mood" where you can set what "mood" you are in. It's kind of stupid but I just wanted to try it out. If you want to set your "mood" you can click on your username, then click "Edit profile", and there should be a drop-down menu for "Mood:". Enjoy.

Hi man! Indeed alive haha, and well thank you!! So many changes over the last few months but all good. Stopped posting during or right before the finals I believe, but I still read everything. This year looks great for the Suns and it's really nice to see so many of the old guard still contributing. Let's go SUNS!!
