Star field, UHD HFR
Star field, UHD HFR
I made this star field for 4K @ 60 fps.
It looks great on my ULED but I can still see local dimming zones turn on and off as stars pass through. I imagine it would look glorious on an OLED but I haven’t had an opportunity to check. If anyone has an OLED, let me know.
If you close one eye and focus on the center of the screen, the 3D effect is impressive, IMHO.

It looks good on my Macbook screen. The music is a nice touch.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Thanks. Watch it on a big TV if you can.

Re: Star field, UHD HFR
Awesome! I've been wanting to see this on an OLED. I considered buying one, but it's very expensive in large sizes (I ended up getting an 85" ULED) and apparent reliability issues (check out r/LGOLED) scared me off.

Re: Star field, UHD HFR
I’ll have to pop it up on my new tv and gaming monitor. If you do another…. Consider the interstellar soundtrack. That thing is awesome.
Re: Star field, UHD HFR
Thanks for the suggestion. I just bought Interstellar on disc but have yet to watch it. I’ll have to think about whether there’s anything I can do to improve the animation for the next version. If you have any thoughts on that, let me know.Kryptonic wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 5:49 pmI’ll have to pop it up on my new tv and gaming monitor. If you do another…. I’ve always dug black hole simulations.
Re: Star field, UHD HFR
If you like the star field, I wouldn’t mind some YouTube likes.

I just single-handedly doubled them.

YouTube says I have six unique viewers, so I guess three likes is pretty good.
I guess the lurkers aren’t interested.
YouTube also says the average view duration is 3:24 out of 18:00. Tsk, tsk.

You have over 600 subscribers, nothing to sneeze at. Even if those subscribers were covered with pollen.
Re: Star field, UHD HFR
Have you guys ever heard astronauts say that when they are in space it's completely dark, and they don't see any stars?
I'm trying to understand that.

If there’s any light inside their vehicle or helmet, I imagine that light could drown out the stars.

That's plausible.

Not a single subscriber has watched it. :shrug:Charlie Smithy! wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 6:46 pmYou have over 600 subscribers, nothing to sneeze at. Even if those subscribers were covered with pollen.

My LG C2 says otherwise. We only have a 65" though (not the largest living room). Gorgeous TV.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton
