Game Day - Summer League Edition: Suns (2-1) @ Pistons (1-2), Wed 7/15/26

Post by Superbone »

Time: 3:00 pm AZ (3:00 pm PT/6:00 pm ET)
Place: Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, NV
TV: ESPNU, AZFS

The Summer Suns play their fourth game Wednesday afternoon in Las Vegas against the Pistons. Hopefully, Man Man and Peat (sounds like a kid's show) continue to get plenty of playing time although in past years, it seems like they start shutting these guys down and giving guys at the end of the bench some playing time.

Go Suns!!!

Dis • cuss
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Koa has shown flashes of something I didn't think would translate, I'm pleasantly surprised.

I know some (myself) included probably expected to see Rasheer looking to probably handle the ball more and stuff as his next progression
Hasn't been much of thar first set of games and when he did try some 1v1s he didn't look comfortable

Still expect him to be fine in his role when the season starts
Had a good half just doing the simple stuff, 3pt shot looks pure and length was bothering those guys as point defender.
There was also a stint with Man Man off where he really had some good defensive rebounds as the small ball 5

Took me a minute since I saw him in the first game but young Hoiberg energy, hustle and unselfishness plus the headband look is giving Dellavedova vibes :) :)

Maluach with back to back 3's!
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Maluach 23 pts, 15 rebs
Fleming 22 & 8
Peat 19 pts.

G-League vet JaVonte Cook had 12
A fun team to watch again. A trade or two away from being a serious contender...

Maluach has given me the biggest boner. If this guy can translate to NBA games, he could be incredible!

It's been awhile since we had a standout in SL and we've had 2. Feels good man.

Maluach, Fleming and Peat all look like their progressing pretty much according to plan.

I think there's going to be a lot of competition for minutes this year, especially if players stay healthy.

According to plan? Have you watched our rookies and sophomores historically in Summer League? It's as if their play was assumed to be as good as it's been. I think Peat and Maluach have been absolute surprises. I'm loving it.

I mean that they've shown the kind of growth that you need to see if you expect them to be productive rotation players. I can see all three of them making more of a contribution than Dunn this year. And I think we were all mostly optimistic about Dunn his first year.

The only reason you were optimistic about Dunn is because he was our ONLY prospect.

Now we have riches and you can see he was never a serious prospect.

Well, he has the defense to keep him in the league, but his offense just hasn't progressed at all.

But the biggest difference is that Gregory is making the decisions, and when Sarver was owner they just weren't committed to scouting and player development (like no G League team for instance).

His defense is average. He doesn't stop anyone by any means and he fouls jump shooters way too much. He is not Mcdaniels. He is not Camara. It's just average.

So happy we’re not experiencing the “Josh Jackson - year 2 Summer league” feeling in the pit of our collective stomachs. Quite the opposite.

Anyone still questioning whether Maluach could be a dominant center?

Pretty sure Jeremy still doubts that he can play more than 25 mpg.
