By the way, did everyone see the egregious foul Darell Arthur took on Dion Waiters? He could have really, really hurt Waiters: LINK

I do. I'm not high on him yet. He looked good at the Nike Hoops Summit. I'm still not crazy about him choosing to play in China though, but whatever.carey wrote: I don't know if anyone cares, but Emmanuel Mudiay dropped a triple double in China:

Improved technology?! What improvements do they need? Honestly, I don't see why they can't make the final decision now. Eliminate all this going to the scorer's table, having a conference, fiddling with the headphones nonsense.David Aldrigde wrote:The league has gone to great pains to say that the Replay Center, which gets direct game feeds from each of the NBA's 29 arenas, serves to supplement the referees, not do their job for them -- though it has not shuttered the notion that improved technology in future years might make using the Replay Center for the final decision possible.

DA also hits it out of the park in the Morning Tip when he talks about dramatically reducing the number of back-to-backs. I have no idea why the League felt it was more important to extend the All-Star break than it was to reduce the back-to-backs.
DA, in discussing starting the season earlier, references the fear of running against College Football and the World Series. WHATEVER! World series ratings are embarrassingly low to begin with, and college football is a Saturday sport, which isn't a big night or day for the NBA.
Reduce the preseason to 4 games (get over yourselves owners). Make training camp 2 weeks. Start in early October, and go to the end of April if need be.

Yeah, I don't get the need for so many back-to-backs. It should be pretty rare. Isn't it something like 20-25% of our games are back-to-backs?
Re: Around the League: Week 3 11/10-11/16
The least amount a team has is 16. Most teams have 18 to 22 back-to-backs. Gross.
Re: Around the League: Week 3 11/10-11/16
Although I could really get behind playing mini-series throughout the season in your division. I like the idea of playing three games in a week against our division at home, and then vice-versa later in the season away. You could still do a back to back, but neither team travels and both are experience the same fatigue.
But that gets into other schedule changes. I would actually love to see more division games, less conference games, and way less inter-conference games. I love the feeling that creates within the division.

So just to be clear, does that mean that there are 11 sets of back-to-backs, or there are actually 22 games that are played the next day? I know, I should know this.INFORMER wrote:The least amount a team has is 16. Most teams have 18 to 22 back-to-backs. Gross.

22 sets of back-to-backs, so yes, 22 games played the next day.
Re: Around the League: Week 3 11/10-11/16
Fyi, the Suns have 16 sets of back-to-backs.
Re: Around the League: Week 3 11/10-11/16
It is crazy to think that for some teams, over half of their games are part of a back-to-back situation.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
More events during the All-Star break/weekend. Bread and circuses for the NBA masses ...
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...
Re: Around the League: Week 3 11/10-11/16
I don't think they added events; they just gave the players extra days off.

Re: Around the League: Week 3 11/10-11/16
Unless I counted wrong it happens 17 times for us this season. (So 17 sets, meaning 17 games the day after a game.)Indy wrote:So just to be clear, does that mean that there are 11 sets of back-to-backs, or there are actually 22 games that are played the next day? Another great game for Hayward. 30/8/5 on 11/15 shooting.
20/6/4.6 with 50/38/95 splits on the season.

I don't get why the players association never opposed this number of back to backs.
In any soccer league, players are not allowed to play for another 48 hours after a game.
I think it would improve a lot the quality of the games if the back to backs were drastically reduced.
