Sounds like you had your mind made up. Who's to say how much influence he has on who we bring in? I have listened to all of his interviews and does say he's going to give his input. I'd much rather have a coach that is adaptable versus a coach that has his style of play and will enforce it regardless of personnel.Indy wrote:Meh. I understand his analogy of saying if you are a coach with a single philosophy and a way to play, you limit yourself. Seeing himself as a chef that has to work with the ingredients Ryan/James gives him is entirely accurate, but you would hope the guy that you bring in to install an offense and defense, and adjust it every game/quarter, would have more say in who is brought in.Superbone wrote:What did you think?Indy wrote:It is up. All in all, he was #3 on my list to bring in (even if the first one wasn't completely realistic). I hope that our investments on stacking up assets pays off and we can let our coach make the most out of the players we have, especially considering I can't see us acquiring a great shooting, star player at 3 positions for next year through the draft/fa/trades--which is what it would take for this team to be a top tier playoff team by 2020.

Indy, you’re thinking like a Binar. Just because he isn’t making the final decisions doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any say. Typically the person choosing the ingredients does consult with the chef, unless it’s a game show.Superbone wrote:Sounds like you had your mind made up. Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
The FO has shown that the coach has a say on draft night in past years--didn't Watson lead the Team Chriss charge leading up to the draft, even though the FO was Team Bender? Im guessing that a new coach that is blazing a trail may not want to make huge waves about demanding input into personnel choices on his first press conference. My bet is that he will be one of the voices in the room leading up to the draft.Cap wrote:Indy, you’re thinking like a Binar. You guys need to read what I wrote again. I didn't say anything bad about him, or his interview. It was meh.
Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
I know we're all still thinking about the draft but I can't help myself. I'm pretty convinced we're taking Ayton and I'm ready to start building the team though trades and free agency.
Will we trade for Kemba? Schroeder?
Am I the only one who wants Tyreke Evans? Will Barton?
Will we pursue a RFA at the 1 or 4? AG? Smart? Exum?
Do we trade Warren?
Who actually would be interested?
I ran through every team and here's the most likely teams that could offer us a shooter in return.
Utah for Alec Burks
Maybe NO for Darius Miller and Solomon Hill
OKC for Abrines
Denver for Beasley and Faried
Kings for Justin Jackson
Grizzlies might want him, but they have no one to offer
Pacers for Bogdonavich
Knicks for Courtney Lee or Tim Hardaway Jr
Nets for Allen Crabbe
Hornets for Batum

Interesting that josh thought the most important thing to work on in the offseason is eating and lifting weights. Do him and Chriss take advice from the same person for what to do in the offseason, and does that person just want to cultivate mass, rather than become better basketball players?

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
Josh does need to get stronger. The problem with Chriss is it seemed like he thought that meant he should be eating burgers and milkshakes and donuts. Hopefully they've learned their lesson and Jackson eats the right things.
Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
I can't see Jackson getting fat. More muscle and strength? Yes please.

I'm not interested in Tyreke Evans unless its on a 1 year deal.
I do have interest in Kemba.

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
How about DAR? Would the Nets part with him now that they have other players doing well at pg? That is a team that would really love to have some draft picks.Split T wrote:I know we're all still thinking about the draft but I can't help myself. They might, I'm not nearly as high on DAR as I once was. He's still a talent though.

The Suns didn’t win the lottery when they landed the first pick in the NBA draft. They won the lottery a long time ago, when they convinced fans to hand over their hard-earned cash to watch them tank.

As someone in another country who never been to a game or even spent $$ for League Pass, sometimes this Awful Truth is not always on my mind
I was one happy to say I stuck it out, watching most of the games despite the Tank but obviously a free stream and paying $$ to go are two completely different things

Thanks for the hair while it lasted, Elf. It was fascinating to watch and helped us land Ayton.
