Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
Stretching Knight isn't ideal to me unless we absolutely need the cap space for a game changer. We'd be paying him 5-6 million a year for 5 more years. I hold onto him, let him play, see if he can regain some value. Stretch him if absolutely necessary. I just hope we don't stretch him to throw a max at an undeserving player.
Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
You might be on to something. Maybe he'd play better if he was a little taller.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, I think they're talking about restructuring his deal, not getting rid of him. Basically, working around the rules to give us more flexibility.LazarusLong wrote: ↑Fri Jun 01, 2018 9:32 amI doubt they'd drop Williams this season.
He's popular with fans and teammates, and his mom his head of Phoenix PD.
He's also a local guy (North High) and has community appeal.

Yes I don't think we're dropping him either, but we can waive him, use that extra 5 million in cap space and then resign him using an exception to essentially the same deal he was on using the room exception. He'd end up taking a pay cut of a few hundred thousand dollars, but same number of years.Superbone wrote: ↑Fri Jun 01, 2018 9:48 amUnless I'm misunderstanding, I think they're talking about restructuring his deal, not getting rid of him. Was about to post the same thing Carey. Of note, that's Brandon Knight taking the hat from Josh. I don't think he's going anywhere, he's been with the team a lot and I think he's gonna have a role for us next year.

Cheerleading from the bench?

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
Unless we acquire a starting PG via trade or free agency, I think he will be our starting PG. If we do acquire someone like Kemba Walker, I think Knight becomes the first guard off the bench.
Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
It makes me happy to see that Josh and Knight are still in the Valley even though their seasons have been over for quite some time.
Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
If so, he's got a lot of work to do in that area. He's got 1/10th of Williams' cheerleading game.

Knight isn't coming off the bench guys. I don't know what's happening with Payton but if what everyone is saying about Ayton is true, then we're getting our big at #1 and McD and/or Igor feel good enough about Knight or Payton to pass on Doncic.

Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
I don’t think drafting Ayton means we’re cool with just Knight and Payton. I’d be surprise if they settle like that. I really think McD ends ups trading the 16th pick to get a competent PG. Most likely Kemba. Not saying that’s the right strategy, just say what I think McD will ultimately do.
Re: 2018 Suns Offseason News
If he continues to play anything like he has for us in the past, there’s no way in hell he’s starting. Maybe he’ll get a chance at the start of the season, but he’ll blow it very quickly.

McD has already been quoted as saying C and PG are our two biggest needs so they're not stopping at Ayton.Wally_West wrote: ↑Fri Jun 01, 2018 11:46 amI don’t think drafting Ayton means we’re cool with just Knight and Payton. Thoughts?
https://twitter.com/esidery/status/1003051997124128770 Can't see us doing it as we already have 3 top 31 picks and this would take us out of the FA market. Still getting the 14th pick for taking on 1 year and 13 million dollars is a great deal. Especially since next year is the opportune time to have cap space anyways.

Maybe a three-team deal, where we use 14 and 16 to move up?Split T wrote: ↑Sat Jun 02, 2018 5:08 pmThoughts?
