Why Doncic may be the safest pick in the draft:

https://sports.yahoo.com/luka-doncic-mi ... 28512.html

He wants to play point guard and have the ball in his hands. His favorite player is LeBron and it sounds like he wants to have a LeBron type impact on his team. Of course, he doesn't have the Greek god body of LeBron so how he impacts the game would be a little different.
Similar to the way Booker modeled his game after old Kobe because he doesn't have the hops to play like young Kobe.

I love Doncic, but even I'm not sure that (Kobe - dunks - defense) + (Lebron - dunks - defense) is going to do it.

We got the freaking Nº1 Pick overall in a quality draft, and still going at each other’s throats. We truly are incapable of managing stress, such a negativity spilling fan base.
We have disagreements and sometimes feel strongly about them. I don’t see a lot of posts crossing the bounds of civility.
You are right, it’s just that I feel the exchanges exuding vibes in the line of “I’m smart and you’re dumb”, and “Armaggedon is coming if the Team doesn’t listen to me” are increasing across the board, or maybe I just needed my coffee.

After seeing his interview and it being clear as day how smart the kid is I'm not even surprised.
He specifically pin pointed what necessary tweaks he wanted to make to his shot as soon as the season was over so combining natural ability with brains n work ethic.....
Sure seems like his potential is through the roof

I'm glad there are enough posters that "know" exactly who the Suns should draft. I've been looking at this draft since 2016. I've been in the Ayton camp or back and forth for awhile, but today I'm leaning Doncic. I may change my mind 10 times before the draft.

I've had 4 different guy's number 1 on my board...I've left Ayton there because I'm 90% sure we're taking him, but I'm not convinced he's the right pick...I don't think we'll know for awhile.

Even if we don't get the best player in the draft, I think we will get a good player.

Agreed. Ayton may not be the best player in the draft, but he's going to be good!

For those on the Doncic train (I still don't know how I feel...conflicted as hell), what will Ayton have to do at the end of the day for you to ultimately be at peace with him?

I know that question sounds loaded on the surface, I don't mean it that way, just legitimately interested in having a discussion where our probable pick reaches his max potential (whatever it may be).

Lead the Suns to the championship in his first year and multiple afterwards, but at the same time give all credit to Booker, while helping to elevate the games of Bender, Chriss, Warren and Jackson. ;)

And then...accept a vet minimum contract because his mom wants him to be a Sun and stay in Phoenix, allowing the Suns to keep their championship core together and play his entire career in Phoenix winning at least 10 championships.

I like Bamba a lot as a prospect and the intangibles he brings, but I'm pretty skeptical that he'll put on the muscle and lbs needed to hold his own in the paint. Dude has a high metabolism and is skinny as all get out.

I'm not going to complain if we draft Ayton or Doncic. Bamba wouldn't bother me either. It's a good time to be a Suns fan but instead we're trying to cut each others throats while selling our Ayton, Doncic or whomever as the #1 pick. None of us knows until a year or two (or more) have passed after this draft. And one player might have fit better with one team vs. another so really, the stars have to align perfectly. There is no right or wrong choice with the number one pick as long as it's one of the potential top 3 or 4 we're all on board with.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Bamba's agent has done a terrific job packaging him during this pre-draft process.

If he can be a good target catching passes in the pick and roll and continue to dominate the rebounds, I'll consider him a success.

I see Bamba as a guy who shoots up the draft board of many teams after they see him in workouts. I wouldn't be surprised if he went as high as second, but not necessarily to Sacramento.
I called this one about a month ago.

Yup. Same here other than I'm currently leaning slightly toward Ayton. I just completed a 4+ hour drive back from Vegas where I listened to a ton of draft talk from AZ Sports radio to the Bill Simmons podcast. My takeaway is that Doncic is the better basketball player currently and is the best prospect ever to come out of Europe and that he's just completing what is equivalent to a full NBA season plus playoffs against grown ass men. Basketball is in this kid's blood. He had no choice but to become a primo basketball player and already possesses the all-around skills of the greats.

Ayton on the other hand, is a 7 foot physical marvel with the body of a Greek god. He like most of his countrymen started playing soccer first and he came to basketball later so basketball does not come to him as naturally. However, he has made great strides in improving his basketball game even just this last year in his only 30 or so college games. I think he will continue to improve and become an even better basketball player in time and I think we now have the perfect coach to help get him there. He is already a gifted scorer but now he needs to learn where to position his body for rebounds and on defense. I think he has the intellect and drive to get himself there with the coaching we have in place. Plus, like they say, big men take longer to develop. If we do draft him, I hope he becomes a monster in a few years and he along with Booker leads us to the promised land.

If we take Ayton, Sacramento would be foolish to pass on Doncic and if we don't take Ayton, we better damn well take Doncic.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

I’m on the Doncic train, but perfectly at peace with Ayton. If it turns out to be like picking Karl Malone over Larry Bird, I think I can live with it.
