Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
Thanks guys for the cap explanation. I’m guessing they’ll waive and stretch TJ in time for free agency? That’ll give us max money to throw at someone. No way they just bring back Oubre and call it good for the summer.

Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
Nailed it. As I pointed in another post, we need to get rid of Meth, Jackson, Okobo, Melton and renounce to everybody but Oubre to be looking at roughly 27M in cap space, enough for a max offer sheet. The it is the room exception (~5M) and vet mins.Indy wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 11:25 amOK, so by my count (and i am sure I am missing something, so please point it out):
We turned this:
TJ Warren (3 yr/36) + #6 + #32 + MIL 2020 (~25-30 range)
Into this:
Saric (last year of rookie deal)
Baynes (last year of 5m deal)
Cam Johnson (consensus 20-40 pick)
Ty Jerome
Jalen Lecque (no pick, just cap $$)
+3.1M in cap space (13.2M vs 10.1M before)

The uncertainty of whether or not he still had a remaining year on his deal.

I am trying to find out from Larry Coon if we can stretch more than one player. Still... you don't want to have too much dead money on your roster. I don't recall the Okobo and Melton contracts off hand but I think they are already guaranteed for '19-'20.Ring_Wanted wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 1:09 pm

Didn't see anyone report it but we added Jared Harper to our summer league squad. As a die-hard Auburn fan I'm a little bias but Harper desvered to be drafted last night. Yes he'll have a hard time sticking because of his size but he's about as fun a player as there was in the Draft.
He also torched Coby White for 26 in the sweet 16. At the very least it makes our summer league games worth watching for me.

“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”
Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
ah thought you meant there was some type of rule against it. If that is what you meant, there was zero uncertainty. Of course he is going to take the 19M. The reason we couldn't trade him is nobody wanted him for that much cap space.
Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
Yeah pretty sure they both got 2nd years.carey wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 1:19 pmI am trying to find out from Larry Coon if we can stretch more than one player. Okobo is guaranteed 1.4 this year and Melton is the same. But Melton's next year is the qualifying offer and Okobo has 2 more (but non-guaranteed)

Would love it. Supposedly more affordable than others too. Brogdon would still be my priority and I'd work hard on getting intel about wether he'd sign a max offer sheet at 00:01. If he does, go for it. If not, look at Sato.bajanguy008 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 12:55 pmhttps://twitter.com/mikenothum/status/1142142736281116672
What would ATL want in a sign and trade for Dedmon. A package of Jackson-Baynes-Okobo-Melton plus some kind of asset to ATL means a deal for Dedmon starting at roughly $14M.

I thought we just drafted Satoransky in Ty Jerome.
Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
It is crazy to me how different these look on paper:
I actually like A to B. And pretty much hate B to C (especially if we buy out Baynes)
Code: Select all
A -> B -> C
TJ Saric Saric
#6 Baynes Baynes
#32 #11 Cam Johnson
MIL 2020 #24 Ty Jerome
3.1M 3.1M
Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
^ That's pretty much where I'm at, too, Indy. I liked the Saric trade a lot. Then they blew it (IMO). I like each of the guys they got, but not the assets they used to get them.

Re: Suns News: 2019 Off-Season
I have never though about that, but I am inclined to think that you can stretch any number of players. Per CBA (Article VII), technically you first waive a player, then you send a written statemento to the L saying you want to stretch the guy. Since there is no limitation to the number of players you can waive, I don't see why such limit would apply to the stretch provision unless stated so explicitly (if it is there, I missed it). There is a limit, though. You can't have more than 15% of the salary cap in stretched players.carey wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 1:19 pmI am trying to find out from Larry Coon if we can stretch more than one player. 2020 salary cap is $116M, so we are talking about $17'4M in stretched garbage. If waived between 1 jul and 31 ago, Meth will cost $6'4M over three seasons.

Gambo says he expects us to end up with Cory Joseph. Not Russell. Not Collison. Collison’s backup. He averages 6.5 points and 3.9 assists.
This front office is an absolute joke. Probably the worst we’ve ever had, and that sure is saying something.

Who the heck is Meth? I see people saying "meth" all the time. Is this a nickname I missed during the season and why did someone start getting called meth? Seems like a bad nickname to have.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton
