Whistleblower / Trump / Ukraine story
Re: Whistleblower / Trump / Ukraine story
Politics has changed a lot since 1973. This isn’t going to go down like Nixon.

Lol. Clearly. He'd have been gone six months ago.Cap wrote:Politics has changed a lot since 1973. This isn’t going to go down like Nixon.
Now the only thing that matters is one side wins and the other loses. People have attached their entire worldview to this man. They will never betray that no matter what he does. It's worse than religion.

And yeah, support for impeachment has been going up rapidly. If you compare charts of Trump's impeachment support vs Nixon's, his is rising faster. Once Nixon got a little further than Trump is now, he resigned. Here's hoping?

Trump had a good excuse. They didn’t help us at Normandy in WWII, so screw them.
Re: Whistleblower / Trump / Ukraine story
Taylor's testimony was reportedly devastating for Trump. He confirms that there was an explicit quid pro quo, that Ukranian president Zelenskyy was told that he must make a public statement announcing an investigation of Biden or else he wouldn't get foreign aid. I think the impeachment articles are starting to look very strong.

There is also a recent poll saying that now 55% of voters support impeachment, and 48% support removal from office.

Re: Whistleblower / Trump / Ukraine story
The evidence and witnesses have piled up on this latest Trump scandal. There isn't a shred of doubt the Dems in the House will impeach. The Senate may or may not impeach but the damage has already been done. I think this is the straw that broke the camels back.
Senate Republicans have stormed the House hearings today interrupting the investigation and stopping testimony. They claim the Dems are holding secret meetings that America should be part of. It’s an investigation, not a trial. There are all the House Republicans that are naturally part of the investigation that are already in the room and part of the investigation. Obviously the Senate Republicans storming in was a stunt.

I swear most folks in power will look the other way to stay in power even if it means shitting on the constitution to do it.

Re: Whistleblower / Trump / Ukraine story
That was such a silly and stupid stunt. They already had Republicans in the impeachment interviews and hearings. It wasn't like the GOP was shut out or something. They want to manufacture a fake narrative that somehow the impeachment is a cloak-and-dagger operation conducted by the Dems with no due process. It's preposterous, and frankly, desperate. They're running out of options and running out of time.Nodack wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2019 11:07 amSenate Republicans have stormed the House hearings today interrupting the investigation and stopping testimony. Re: Whistleblower / Trump / Ukraine story
I think it was just the house GOP, not the senators.
Re: Whistleblower / Trump / Ukraine story
It's a fairly funny gambit too since the only people it really would play well with are the Fox News viewers who are already strongly in Trump's camp. House GOP members don't do much good for Trump's reelection and impeachment defense when they flagrantly break the law on television.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 8:05 amThat was such a silly and stupid stunt. The echo chamber of social media is great for the GOP until such time as it starts making the politicians behave like the constituents who are also within the echo chamber. Until lately, they used it as a tool for propaganda and control. But when people like Matt Gaetz storm around out of control, they're going to lose the narrative.
