How would you guys feel about targeting Ben Simmons this offseason? Say, Rubio/Oubre/our pick for Simmons?
For a guy that's getting paid $29m next season rising to $38m in his final year and can't shoot the 3 ... I think I'd stick with Rubio.
To quantify it - Rubio's $34.8m remaining over the next two years of his contract is 57% of Simmons' $60.3m.
Rubio is far better than 57% of Simmon's talent (probably at least 80%).
I know we'll need to spend some money at some point but Simmons over Rubio is not the move I don't think, and giving up depth in Oubre makes it even less appealing.
Simmons' health issues would give me more pause for making a move like that than any on court stuff. He's a special player. Unbelievable defensively and a killer in transition.
On talent alone of course, just that contract looks heavy. Van Vleet at $25m all day.
Lol. Now we have to get you a FVV PHX Jersey.
Considering salaries I would take FVV at $20M over Simmons at his contract
He's on his way to getting more than $20m if he keeps this up .. and my new found appreciation for FVV is just to point out how crazy big Simmons's contract is; for a flawed player I'll pass at that price.

I believe Simmons would make for a terrific 4 if Philly could get a knockdown guard to start. It’s dumb how they just can’t make it all work. They overpaid for his supporting cast outside of Embiid.
He would fit on our squad if we started him, Booker, Bridges, Cam, and Ayton leaving us 3 shooters to spread around him. But Philly ain’t giving him up for Rubio + Oubre + pick. It’s a good deal for us. It wont make them much better.

I worry about his hit with Ayton.
But yes, I would strongly consider that deal. I would want the Sixers' second rounders though.
Of freaking course you would want their second rounders. You’re the kid that liked the cardboard box a toy came in more than the toy itself lmao
Right. You should always leave money at the table in any negotiation. Nobody is saying 2nd round picks are likely to be starts. But take a shot and see what you get. It literally costs you almost nothing. Jocik, Pat Bev, Draymond, Dragic, Gasol, DeAndre Jordan--and those are just the guys off the top of my head that are playing this year.

He gets to the rim on 64% of his shots (it goes up to 94% of all his shots if you extend out to 10 feet). That is a special player when ever single scouting report says to let him shoot.
I’m still really high on Simmons. Think his fit with Ayton is questionable as some have mentioned. I think Booker/Simmons is one heck of a combo. I might look to flip Ayton at that point for a better fit.
