Game Day, NBA Finals Edition — Game 1 — Milwaukee Bucks @ Phoenix Suns, Tuesday 7/6/2021

Suns so close to blowing this out but Bucks keeping it close enough to keep us on our feet:

they did a great job of that all game.

Looks like Crowder’s 3pt shot will once again be be a dud to start the series.

As long as he hits 7/9 in a close out win for us I will be happy.

So far this playoffs, he is 13/21 (62%) in our close out wins.

The rest of the games, he is 25/83 (30%). Ooof.

I realize that it's game 1 and teams are trying to figure things out, but I keep thinking about that stretch in the third quarter when the Bucks played drop defense (which got killed by Booker and Paul) and then went with Portis at Center in a small ball lineup (which also got killed).

I don't think Ty Lue would've made a mistake like that, and this coaching matchup might be more lopsided than most people expected.

Take Payne out. WTF is he doing. He hit that one shot but these weren't good shots.

10 points on 50/40 splits in 16 minutes is great, especially when Paul and Book had it going like tonight.

I can understand virtual's gripe. It's just classic Cam Payne. Hard to watch sometimes, but effective more often than not.

One of the reasons why I kinda of preferred the Bucks, I think Coach Bud has been pretty terrible this playoff. While I expect them to play better going forward just think Coach Bud is pretty mediocre at in game and game to game adjustments.

That is a great quote from Giannis. There isn't really anyone on the Bucks that I dislike, which is such a relief coming off of two series against LA teams and their gaggle of jackasses.

On to worrying about Scott Foster in game 2.

The Bucks can’t defend us unless they go small with Giannis at the 5…Brook had a good game offensively, but man he was torched on defense. Portis was worse. I don’t know what they do, they can’t play 6 guys the whole series, Can they? López will have to play, though I wonder if they play him when Paul sits. Book and Payne can still shred him, but not as bad as Paul would.

I think what’s stopping them from running that Giannis at the 5 lineup for long stretches is the fact that Giannis doesn’t have the energy to go all out for more than about 36-38 mpg, and if he’s the only big he’ll need to expend even more energy.

No more injuries, no fishy officiating, and I’ll feel a bit better about our chances.
