Deandre Ayton's future with the Suns?

Re: Deandre Ayton's future with the Suns?
The problem is you’re judging everything on what you expect to happen in the future. It’s easy to be right when you use your own opinions on things that haven’t happened yet to judge it. We have no idea what happens with Turner, maybe Turner has a top 5 mvp season. So you’re comparing apples to oranges too.JeremyG wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 10:18 amTurner is an expiring contract, likely to walk next summer.Split T wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 10:15 amBecause we literally gave up assets for nothing. Ya it’s a smaller scale, but Myles Turner is a legitimate nba starter. You’re acting like he’s garbage.JeremyG wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 10:07 amWait, what?Split T wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 9:41 amSo worse than trading for Brandon Knight? James Jones has made worse trades, remember Josh Jackson, Melton, and 2 2nds for Jevon Carter?
Remember IT for a late 1st and then IT became an mvp candidate? How about Bogdonavic and 2 1sts for Chriss?
Your Ayton obsession is blinding you.How could you put that one anywhere near the same level, much less worse??
And none of the players we gave up in those trades were as good as Ayton.
And IT was absolutely better than Ayton. He finished 5th in mvp, was All-NBA 2nd team and we dumped him for a late 1st. We’d have to trade Ayton for a 2nd for it to be comparable.
As for IT, that was one season. And when we traded him he was a worse player than Ayton is. You can't compare apples to oranges. Ayton could become 5th in MVP voting too for all you know.
We’ll have to judge the trade later. See what Ayton turns into, see what the suns do with what they get.
Re: Deandre Ayton's future with the Suns?
The alternative is you match his offer and keep him. Either until after December, when you can trade him without BYC issues, or for the duration of his contract. It likely won't be a max, so it won't be an overpay. Ayton is good. It would be wise to keep him unless you get a really good haul back. Myles Turner and a pick is not a good haul for DeAndre Ayton, especially if Ayton takes substantially less than the max.

If you're that old maybe you shouldn't be so emotionally invested in where players 20+ years your junior are playing a meaningless game. Good grief.JeremyG wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 9:12 amLol. No. Probably longer than you. And I know Suns history like the back of my hand going way back even further.

Re: Deandre Ayton's future with the Suns?
Just watched 1 year old clip of Monty “coaching up” Ayton in a game trying to motivate him. How frustrating.
This. After this much time in NBA, why does Monty have to talk Ayton up? Probably a lot of the team feels like they have to “motivate” Ayton. Just dumb. No way you pay anyone the max if they need that kind of motivation. If it’s like this consistently for the past 4 years, this staff isn’t going to get through and it’s time for Ayton to go.

Too bad Monty couldn't give a little of that pep talk to the whole fucking team in the Dallas series.mjwang92 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 12:50 pmJust watched 1 year old clip of Monty “coaching up” Ayton in a game trying to motivate him. How frustrating.

Because I don't think Monty is going to outcoach anybody with adjustments and "x's and o's".

Re: Deandre Ayton's future with the Suns?
At the time, people didn't talk about Ayton's lack of motivation, but about Monty's leadership.
The way I understood it, it never was not a motivation problem. Ayton was motivated but had a rough game. Monty was consoling him because he wanted to do better, but didn't succeed to.

What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

It’s official, Indy can now sign Ayton to an offer sheet

What does Doncic have to do with the decision at hand? We have Ayton, he is an asset, and I don't think he will even get a max offer sheet. Sign him at a below max contract. Don't get a Diaw back for a JJ.Vladimir_Taltos wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 9:57 amDoncic 230 lbsvirtual9mm wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 9:46 amWhat's up with Suns fans being ok with trades that would be akin to us chopping our own balls off? Ayton has 4" and 20 lbs on him...
...who dominated who in the paint in the playoffs? So...max player? Really?
