Jae Crowder trade request
Re: Jae Crowder trade request
The way Shams worded it sounds like these were old talks and the Hawks are just leaking it now (in order to try to restart discussions or something?).

Crowder and Saric to the wizards for Will Barton and Deni Avdija
Re: Jae Crowder trade request
They already have 138M on the books for next year without Hunter's extension/new contract and that is only for roughly half their roster.

S&Ts don't always work out the way you hope.

Re: Jae Crowder trade request
Are you really against flipping Crowder for Hunter? Even if he’s just here for 1 year and walks he’s worth it. Not sure it matters though..I think the chances Atlanta considers him in a Crowder trade are extremely low unless we offer up draft capital too.
Re: Jae Crowder trade request
I wouldn't mind getting Jalen Johnson back in the trade in some way. I still think he has some nice upside if developed right.

Ya, Justin Holiday and Jalen Johnson is about the best we can hope for I think. Holiday is a good, playable wing. Doesn’t solve our need of more creation and can’t play the 4, but he’s better than any bench wings we have.
Re: Jae Crowder trade request
Sorry, thought you were saying that Atlanta shouldn't trade him because they could always flip him next summer in part of a S&T. My comment about 138M was for Atlanta, and that could be the reason they are talking about moving on from Hunter.

We have the draft capital. Time to use it.

Love, Hurts.
Re: Jae Crowder trade request
I would do that Collins deal in a heartbeat. I think they'd manage to fleece us out of more than Crowder + 1st, though. I'm afraid they'd get 2 future 1sts out of us. Which is dumb, but I bet James Jones would do it. And then we'd have a problem about Cam Johnson vs Collins.

Optimist prime! Is this in reference to KD? The deal we all know how close or how far we were from pulling off? Are you faulting the organization for taking a swing at it, even if they missed?TOO wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 7:59 pmThat worked so well last time.Split T wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 7:18 pmI think so too.. unless we know something about a bigger star coming availableJeremyG wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 7:02 pmWe have the draft capital. What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton
Re: Jae Crowder trade request
I'm faulting the organization for sitting on its hands for too long, Brooklyn was pretty adamant about their demands and they never wavered. Not sure why you keep waiting hoping for something to change. They also painted themselves into a corner with Ayton making it impossible to do anything after that.AmareIsGod wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 10:01 amOptimist prime! Is this in reference to KD? Pretty extensive and interesting stuff in here about the Crowder situation.

Re: Jae Crowder trade request
Interesting quotes from the article:
Along with Miami, inquiring teams have been told Atlanta is Crowder’s other preferred landing spot. While the Hawks have made calls about injured wing Bogdan Bogdanovic, a potential framework of Crowder and Landry Shamet for Bogdanovic has made the rounds among front office personnel, although one source with knowledge of the situation claimed Shamet is not part of any active Suns conversations with Atlanta. The Hawks and Suns have had dialogue on Crowder throughout the summer.
Perhaps there’s a three-team framework with Atlanta in which the Hawks could send a young player and salary, such as Justin Holiday’s contract, to Phoenix, which the Suns could re-route and obtain a different player on their wish list. Rockets forward K.J. Martin, another forward known to have interest in playing elsewhere, is one player the Suns have held ongoing talks about obtaining, sources said
In recent transaction cycles, Phoenix has explored adding greater ball-handling depth behind Chris Paul and Devin Booker. And Jordan Clarkson, one of the many veterans thought to be available in Utah, is one dynamic guard the Suns have inquired about landing in exchange for Crowder, sources said. Would Phoenix be willing to attach draft capital in that scenario? That outcome would seem to result in Crowder securing a buyout from Utah, and then his pick of destination, albeit at an unknown salary.

Re: Jae Crowder trade request
How about Crowder to Atlanta, KJ Martin and Justin Holiday to us, Jalen Johnson and a 2nd to Houston. Who says no?
Doesn’t really solve our shot creation need, but gives us some wing depth.
