Game Day (Preseason): Suns (0-0) @ Pistons (0-0), Sun 10/8/23

You know what just dawned on me... Losing CP3 is probably better than we think. No more Scott Foster curse!
Re: Game Day (Preseason): Suns (0-0) @ Pistons (0-0), Sun 10/8/23
I thought Saben Lee was a point guard who knew how to run an offense. Somewhere Cam Payne is having a laugh.

Definitely. He’s a Dan Majerle type. He was brought in to save us.

Evidently we need to work on layup drills... Good lord.

I don’t know. Is this basketball? We didn’t roll the basketball in once from out of bounds.

Not like Lee is surrounded by scorers.

Remember, the starters absolutely mopped their starters. Our end of the bench is just fine.
Love, Hurts.

I’m behind and still haven’t finished, but my 2 quick takeaways:
1. Our offense is going to be incredible
2. Grayson Allen is really good(he was the best non big 3 guy today). It’s kinda hilarious imagining Shamet in his spots, Allen is so much better.

Keon Johnson provided some offense when we needed it in OT. Metu also an excellent FT shooter.

Metu was good, I really like the big rotation potential.

Now that the game is over, some thoughts:
* Dang, this team is stacked. Our starters + first few guys off the bench are just an embarrassment of riches when it comes to shooting and overall offense.
* Beal is already fitting right in. It's like having two Bookers out there, basically. He is going to be great.
* Nurkic, ... eh, he was okay. I will give him some more games before judging. He seems slow on D and seemed to reach and foul too much. And I didn't see him set a lot of exceptional screens or anything else transcendent on offense. He was just okay.
* Grayson Allen, wow, I didn't know he had handles like that. You can basically run an offense through him. Much better than I thought he would be. I kind of thought he was a Jae Crowder type, but he was way better with the ball in his hands than that.
* Eubanks, I didn't really notice him much when he was out there, but he quietly had 7 points and 8 rebounds. Smart player, dirt worker. Bad FT shooter.
* I really didn't like our bench guards, Saben Lee and Eric Gordon. They both tried to create their own offense too much and put up bad shots. I hope we don't let them do that in real games.
* I already love Yuta. I am just going to be cheering for this guy every time he makes a play.
* Metu was really solid. I had zero expectations for him going into the season but he seems like a guy who is going to command a spot in the rotation.
* I'm going to blame yet another Suns 4th quarter collapse on Monty Williams.

Agree. Outside of Metu, nobody else was looking for the ball.
Azubukie did a great imitation of park statue of a forgotten hero ... the one that pigeons roost on ...
Hope Goodwin is available soon to see what he brings to the backcourt.
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

Some of the most blatantly erroneous calls I've ever seen, and they all seemed to go against the Suns.

57 points at halftime says the defense needs a lot of work.

Instead of saying something negative, I'll just say whoever it was that predicted back in July that Eubanks would end up as the starting center may turn out to be right after all.

I really think we need a point guard on the roster, at least off the bench, and Saben Lee is obviously not it. Hopefully Goodwin surprises me if he can be healthy.

Pace was pretty high, the starters defense seemed fine. We shall see.

Nurkic did nothing for me.
What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton
